I lay in bathtub thoughtfully.
Zeke or Will?
Will or Zeke?
Who says I have to choose?
I'm just friends with both of them.
Then again, Zeke asked me out. On a date. I've been flirting with Zeke ever since I first met him. Would it be fair if I just immediately shut him down? Shouldn't I at least go on one date with him? After all, Will and I aren't even a thing. All I know is that he thinks I'm pretty and I suspect he has a crush on me. And I feel like there's a very likely chance I could have a crush on him. Maybe I do have a crush on him?
I dont know!
I don't know anymore!
I thought life would be easier than this!
I take a deep breath and scoop some of the bubbles out of the water. I love bubble baths. I know I'm not five anymore, but bubble baths just help me think. They're warm, steamy and they smell great. I just love them. If I could, I'd probably take a bath a day, but school requires that I study and do stuff.
I think on Will. How friendly and kind he is. His eyes always have that look about them, of otherness. As if he sees things much different - much farther than any other person. As if his thoughts wandered far enough, they could fall off the earth, start flying and make it to the end of the universe.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts by a knock at the bathroom door.
"Sidney! The phone is for you! You want it?" I hear Poppy on the other side of the door.
To clarify- yes. I'm back at school. It was sort of nice to get back to my dorm room and my friends. Poppy and I are pretty close, even though she's kind of shy and quiet sometimes.
I look at the door, "Who is it?"
She answers, "Zeke!"
I feel nervousness settle in the pit of my stomach. Quickly, I climb out of the tub and wrap a towel around me. I open the door and Poppy hands me the phone.
"How's the bath going?" She asks, her blue eyes friendly.
"Just dandy." I answer, closing the door, "Thanks."
I hold the phone up to my ear and peel my towel off, stepping back in the tub, "Hello?"
"Hey, Zeke Davies here." Zeke answers on the other line.
"Yeah, Zeke, hey!" I say, cheerfully.
"So you're back at home base?" Zeke inquires.
"Yep." I sigh, "Back at Harvard."
"That's great. Anyway, I just wanted to check up, see how you were doing." He says.
"Yeah. I'm doing fine." I nod.
"That's great. How's Iris doing?" He asks.
"She's loving marriage. Loves her husband. She seems to be doing well." I answer.
"That's good." Zeke says, followed by an awkward silence. I know he wants to ask about the date, but he also doesn't want to pressure me. I respect him for that. Zeke really is a nice guy. He deserves someone really nice.
"Well-" he starts.
"Hey, Zeke." I cut him off, "About that date, I'm really busy right now and-"
"I underatand if you can't go." He says.
"No," I start again, "What I was saying is if you want, I'm planning on going for a run on Saturday morning. If you wanted to join me and call it a date, then we could work something out."
"Oh." Zeke says, surprised, "Yeah! Yeah! That'd be great! What time were you thinking?"
I smile, actually feeling good about it, "I was thinking nine?"
"Nine. Nine sounds great! I'll probably see you before Saturday, so I'll just say see you later then." He says.
I chuckle, "Okay. Bye, Zeke."
"See you." He answers.
He hangs up the phone.
I put the phone down and stare at the wall thoughtfully.
This won't be so bad, will it?
: : : : :
I'm beyond excited when I see whose caller ID is on my phone.
I answer it brightly, "Hello, William!"
He laughs, "Hi there. What's with the William?"
I shrug, "I thought I'd give it a try."
He asks thoughtfully, "What'd you think?"
I hum, "I haven't decided yet. I'll let you know when I find out."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"So what are you doing?"
"Oh, you know. The normal things incredibly smart people do." I smile.
"Well, I wouldn't know, would I?" He jokes.
"I suppose not." I grin.
"But really," I can sense him smiling eyes, "What are you up to?"
"Studying."
He groans, exteodinarily loud in my ear, "UGGGGGH!"
I wince, "Um, ouch! Excuse me as I clean the blood out of my ear."
He chuckles, "Sorry. It's just that you and your studying habits inspire my inner serial killer."
"Remind me to never study around you, like ever."
"You think a knife is a decent reminder?"
"I'd say."
"So what are your plans for today?" He asks.
"I kinda want to go to the library." I mutter.
"There really is nothing that you dont do without a book is there?"
"Only 99.8% of the things."
"What's the other 0.2%?"
"Running or soccer."
"Of course."
"So what are you doing right now AND today?" I say, flipping a page in my textbook.
"Well, right now i'm at Dylan's place." He says.
"What? Really? How is it so quiet?" I say, surprised.
"He's in the shower."
"Ah, that explains it!" I smile, "What about later?"
"I'm not sure, but I know it'll involve a LOT of coffee drinking." He says.
I laugh, " I suppose you'll need it after seeing Dylan."
"Exactly my thoughts."
"So-" I start.
Unfortunately, there is a wicked screaming in the background that makes my next sentence falter.
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
"BLOODY HELL!"
"WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO!"
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, MATE!?"
"IS IT SIDNEY? YOU'RE TALKING TO SIDNEY AREN'T YOU?"
"YES, I'M TALKING TO SIDNEY! WHY DO YOU CARE?"
"BECAUSE I WANT TO SAY HI! HI SIDNEEEEEY!"
Will talks quietly into the phone, "Dylan says hi."
I chuckle, rubbing my ear from the mass amount of torture it's been put through today, "I gathered. Hi to Dylan."
"She says hi."
"Tell her I love her." Dylan says.
"No." Will says, flatly.
He turns back to the phone, trying to talk over Dylan in the background, "I should probably go. I dont want you to catch the craziness too "
I laugh, "Okay, but before you go, can I ask you one question?"
"Yeah."
"Please tell me Dylan's wearing pants."
Will chuckles, "He is."
I nod, "Good. I'll talk to you later."
"Okay. Bye."
"Bye."
I hang up the phone.
I'm beginning to see what Iris was talking about.
All of it.

"So yeah, things are going pretty smoothly. I just didnt want to have to put up with a big huge wedding, so i'm trying to keep it simple." Percy says into the phone.
"I feel ya. But then again, there will always be people with annoying flashing cameras. Plus the people who will try to crash your wedding and make objections when asked for. 'I WANT PERCY SHARK FOR MY OWN! HE BELONGS WITH ME! I LOVE HIM!'" I joke.
"Everybody loves me. They have fabulous taste." Percy says, dignified.
"But my taste is the best of all." I hear his fiancé, Thalia, in the background.
"Of course. I love you more." Percy tells Thalia, making want to gag.
"I fall in love with you more everyday." Thalia responds cheesily, pausing for a moment, "Except yesterday. Yesterday you were pretty annoying."
Percy chuckles, "What? What'd I do yesterday?"
"You tried carrying all TWELVE bags of groceries in and ended up dropping the milk."
"Um, that's a sign of manhood. And the milk was an accident."
"Manhood? Manhood is carrying twelve bags of groceries in with one arm? You need a new way to show manhood. Like killing a bear with your bare hands." Thalia says.
"You want me to kill a bear with my bare hands?" Percy repeats.
"Yes! Go provide for me, peasant!"
Percy talks into the phone, "Thalia wants me to kill a bear with my bare hands. She's mean. She's setting very high expectations."
I laugh, "Thalia is awesome. And besides, YOU'RE the one who's marrying her."
"Yeah!" Thalia says triumphantly.
"You aren't helping." Percy says, monotone.
"Sorry." I giggle.
"I'm going to go kill a bear now."
I laugh, "Okay, bye."
"Bye."
Author:
Sorry, this is a really lame chapter. I just needed a filler chapter and kinda wanted to expand on several relationships. And i'm not going to go into any detail on Sidney and Zeke's date, so sorry. :-)
SO IT'S SNOWING OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW AND SCHOOL WAS CANCELED AND THIS IS HAPPINESS!
Anyway, that's all.
