No one's POV
Shindong looks sick. The truth is that he wasn't able to sleep or eat for the last few days. And all because of meeting Yesung again.
Siwon and Heechul had a hard time asking Yesung if he wants to meet Shindong. The baby cried, he was angry at his caregivers and it forced Yesung to be big. He spent a night thinking about Shindong and the next morning he agreed to meet him. That's why he is so scared right now. He is sitting in Heechul's lap, his bony chest is pressed to Heechul's chest and his face is buried in the crook of Heechul's neck. The semi long hair of his mommy are tickling him on his cheeks, but Yesung wants to stay hidden. He isn't in his little space, but he also isn't feeling big. He is somewhere is the middle and it is making everything even worse. The world is even more terrifying when you are confused, so much like Yesung is right now. Heechul's comforting hand is gently rubbing his back and he hears his daddy doing something is the kitchen. Then the doorbell rings and Bugsy starts barking.
Yesung grips Heechul even tighter and Heechul brings him closer to his chest.
"Remember that if you want to leave, just say it."
Heechul whispers in his ear and Yesung hears someone entering the house. He doesn't look, he stays hidden in Heechul's arms. Shindong cleared his throat and then sat down in an armchair which is standing a few meters away from Yesung. The tension in the air is suffocating. Siwon is silent, Heechul is gripping Yesung and Shindong is playing with his fingers.
"I don't know why did i want to come so badly. I know that nothing i do can fix what happened."
Shindong runs his fingers through his hair and looks at Siwon.
"I know I did horrible things, but it wasn't me. Trust me! It wasn't me who did all of that!"
Siwon says nothing, he just looks at Heechul who is silently whispering something in Yesung's ear.
"I am sorry, Yesung."
Shindong is really breaking down. He is crying and sobbing while hiding his face in his hands. He quit drinking and taking drugs, he is painfully sober and tries to fight with his demons. The memories of everything he did are chasing him and won't let him rest. Shindong hopes that if Yesung forgives him, then he will find at least a bit of peace.
Suddenly something light touches his hand and he looked up. Yesung fought with himself to unwrap one arm from his mommy and now touches Shindong's cold hand.
"I ... forgive you."
But before Shindong can close his hand to catch the tiny hand, the delicate fingers are gone and Yesung wraps the arm around Heechul again.
Shindong smiles, but it doesn't look like a smile. It is a broken grimace which shows his deep pain and the chaos in his soul. Shindong cries there for a bit longer and Siwon brings him a glass of cold water. It takes a while before Shindong calmed down and shakily got up.
"I will leave now. I hope .... you liked my gift, Yesung."
Shindong left and Siwon closed the front door behind him. Heechul got up from the couch with Yesung in his arms and silently heads upstairs.
It hurts Siwon to see his friend like that. Shindong was his good friend and Siwon couldn't have gotten over everything. He really wants to help Yesung but he feels that if he helps him, then he is betraying Yesung. Meanwhile Heechul changed Yesung's diaper and then lay down in their huge bed with Yesung next to him. He turns the TV on and finds some cartoons, but it is just silently playing in the background while Heechul strokes Yesung's hair and back.
"My good boy. You are safe with mommy."
Heechul is smiling at his baby and Yesung is staring back at him. Heechul is scared, but in a good way! He is scared of the amount of trust he can see in Yesung's eyes. Yesung is just looking at him and Heechul feels that he trusts him and loves him. Heechul knows that he must protect Yesung no matter what, he has to protect him from everything ugly in this world. That is his only job and the most important job you can ever have.
