A few days before new years
"He should he your new years kiss!!"
"what?? your crazy sof"
"what y'all talking about?" olivia says as she walks into the room.
"y/n is gonna have her new years kiss with josh" sofia informs.
"Omg!! yes finally!" Olivia squeals.
"what no! i never said i would do it!" you say.
Sofia gives you a look.
"i just said i wanted too......" you mumble.
"i saw for for it!" sofia says matter-of-a-factly.
"he obviously likes you!" olivia adds.
"Okay now that part is false"
"What's false?" josh says walking into the room.
The girls look at eachother than all at josh.
"okay than never mind..."
"oh y/n do u wanna go eat lunch? maybe grab coffee?" he asks.
"oh sure yeah"
As you go to stand up you see olivia and sofia give you a look.
"he definitely likes you" olivia mouths.
"Shut up" you mouth back.
You and josh start for the door.
"bye girls!" you wave.
"bye!" josh says after.
"bye.. have fun on your date!" olivia adds, you can hear the giggling from sofia.
You see josh look over, you were hoping he couldn't see your blushing cheeks.
You hear him chuckle.
He definitely saw it.
New year's eve 7pm

New year's eve 8pm
The party was really just the whole cast, some crew and anyone that got invited. It was at a rented out office building so people could move about. Maybe 50 or so people were all already there. Most being adults, they had a bar, but they also gave out none alcoholic drinks for anyone belong 21, which honestly was most of the cast.
Y/n and sofia arrived 20 mins ago, they were mingling around, saying hello. They found most of the cast already there.
"hey have you seen josh?" y/n asks sofia.
"hey no! if he happens to be your new years kiss than i'll be happy but i don't want you to ruin your night looking for a guy!" sofia says back.
"okay fine"
"great! i'll get drinks!" she squeals.
"drinks?"
"iced teas?" she laughs.
Sofia walks over to the bar, leaving you behind in a group do people.
"Hey y/n!" someone calls from behind. She turns around,
"oh hey josh! i didn't know you came?" she says.
"oh yeah! i was running a bit late" he laughs.
They end up in a easy conversation, while walking around the building.
10pm
"Yes omg! i love that show!" y/n calls back to josh, nudging his shoulder.
They have been talking for 2 hours now, just walking around, saying hi to people on they way. The conversation was easy, no awkward moments, it just flowed.
Josh laughs at her reaction. He glances at his apple watch.
"it's already 10pm!"
"wait actually?? omg i better find sofia.. she left to get a drink but i haven't seen her since." y/n says looking around at the people.
"oh yeah sure definitely" josh replies.
"i'll see you later?" he asks.
"yeah, later" y/n smiles.
did he mean later as in next day on set or later as in midnight?

"Sofia there you are!"
"where have you been??" she asks.
"i was with josh-"
"Awwwwww"
"shut up"
"what did you two talk about?" she asks smirking.
"just normal stuff... i mean when i left to find you he said 'see you later' but i'm sure he doesn't mean at midnight.
"Girl yes he does!! go find him!" sofia squeals.
Y/n smiles lightly.
"Okay okay" she lets out excitedly.
She runs off to find josh.
11:55pm
"where the hell is josh" y/n mumbles to herself, walking around the building. She enters a office room to sit down and get away from the crowd for a bit.
"josh!" she realizes. He was sitting down on some chairs, just thinking to himself. "there you are!"
"you were looking for me?" he asks, siting up straighter.
"uh why aren't you outside? everyone is going on the roof to watch the fireworks." she says avoiding the question.
"oh uh i just wanted to take a break from the crowd" he explains.
"it's 11:57 you know" y/n says sitting down beside him
"oh"
Silence takes over them. Y/n glances down at her watch.

is he gonna do anything?

"josh"
they say at the same time.
They laugh it off and look at each others eyes.
"You go first" y/n offers.

"uh okay uh" josh mumbles, moving just a little bit closer.
The screams of the countdown begin from outside the room

"i like you like a lot" josh breathes out.

"you do?" y/n asks smiling.

"uh yeah i have for a while now."

She smiles.

they both look into each others eyes.

josh cups her face with his hand.

Y/n places her hands on his knee, trying to get closer.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" someone yells as they barged into the room.
You and josh scramble apart, before your lips could touch.
You slide off the chair and stand up awkwardly and face the door, cheeks red and nervous.
Sofia and Matt are standing there.
"Happy new year guys!" josh is the first one to break the silence, he goes up and hugs both of them.
"Happy new year!" sofia and matt both say.
"Uh yeah happy new year!" you laugh awkwardly joining the group by the door.
You and josh make eye contact.
"Uh happy new year josh" you say, going in for a hug.
"Yeah happy new year" he whispers into your ear.
Before anything else could happen, sofia pulls you out of the room and back into the crowd.
"Y/n i'm so sorry! i didn't know you were in there, i didn't mean to interrupt up moment! god i messed it up!"
"no hey, sofia it's fine okay?" you smile.
"you sure?"
"yeah of course" you smile and hug her.
you were disappointed, you wanted that kiss more than anything, but i didn't happen.
2am
Mostly everyone had left by now. It was late and everyone was tired. Sofia had left about an hour ago, because something came up and you told her you would catch a ride with someone else.
You were searching around for any of the cast that was still there, if it came to it you would order an uber.
Than you spotted josh.
"Hey josh" you whisper coming up behind him. He turns around and smiles when he realizes it was you.
"y/n! why are you still here? i thought you came with sofia?" he asks.
"uh yeah she had to go.. i was wondering if you could give me a ride?" you ask nervously.
"Yeah of course! i'm just about to leave"
You smile.
2:15am
"thanks for the ride again" you say.
You were just on your way back to your building, the car ride wasn't awkward it was just, weird, both were avoiding the fact that they almost kissed just hours before.
"stop thanking me, it's not problem really"
"Here we are" josh says as he puts his car in park.
You unbuckle your seat belt and look over to him.
"thank yo-"
"what did i say about thanking me!" he asks, giving you a look.
"right" you laugh.
"I should probably.." you say pointing outside.
"yeah totally, goodnight y/n"
"goodnight josh"
You turn around and get out of the car. You flash him one last smile and turn to face your building.
As your climbing the stairs to the door, you hear a car door open and close behind you. Not thinking much of it you continue walking.
You than feel something, grab your wrist and spin you around.
Josh.
His hands move to grab your waist, as he looks in your eyes.
"y/n I-"
You look back at him. You see his eyes make it down to your lips.
"I think we need to redo that new years kiss don't you think?"
You only nod as a smile creeps to your face.
"10" he whispers.
"9" you whisper back
you can feel your heart beat pick up

you lightly bite your lip in anticipation

you can see his eyes scan your face

you take a step closer

"1" you finally breath out
"Can i kiss you?" he whispers once again.
Instead of replying you close the gap and he immediately kisses back. Your hands find there way around his neck and into his hair. His hands gripping your hips tighter, not wanting to let you go.
You feel him start to smile into the kiss, you pull away slightly and start laughing.
"What?" he ask laughing with you.
"Nothing.. i'm just glad you were my new years kiss"
He smiles.
"Uh i think i'm ready for my second one?" you giggle.
"What am i gonna do with you y/n" he whispers, leaning back in.
