"Who. Is. It?" I asked sternly.

"Hello... this is a collect call from......At the Los Angeles County Jail. Do you accept the charges?" I sat up.

"Umm.. I guess. Yes."

"I'm sorry. Please try again. This is a collect call from....At the Los Angeles County Jail Do you accep-

"Yes."

"I'm sorry. Please try again."

"Oh my god."

"This is a collect call from.... At the Los Angeles County Jail. Do you accept the charges?"

"Yes"

"Your call is being recorded. Thank you for using PCS."

"Hello?" I spoke.

"What's up? What you doin?" I recognized the voice and my heart dropped.

"Nothing."

"Why you ain't answer the phone when I called you the first time?" He asked.

He didn't seem mad, just questioning.

"I was sleep. The girl I work with called off and I got pushed into overtime so I had a long day." I replied.

"That's what's up."

"How long have you been in there nip?"

"I don't know. I miss you." He changed the subject.

"Do you really? Or you just saying that cause you in jail." He sucked his teeth.

"I'm for real."

"I miss you too. I was worried and looking for you."

"Yeah."

"Yeah? You can talk to me nip. It's no need for you to act strange."

"The call being recorded india, you forgot?"

"I did." I chuckled.

"Why didn't you come home last week?" I asked remembering that I had a bone to pick with him, but since I haven't heard from him I was caught in the moment.
