Dan's POV

The bus dropped me off outside this really nice looking house. A large Christmas tree was visible through the window even though it was only November. If this is the type of neighbourhood I'll live in then I'm fine with it.
Walking down the street with only a few people hurrying past I felt quite lonely. I was never really the one for friends and seem to lose the only ones I have. Sighing, my breath visible in the crisp air, I checked the advert for the address. Counting the houses, my eyes rested on a block of flats that don't look too bad themselves.
"Must be a flat," I said then started to briskly walk towards the building, not because I was cold but because I've picked up the bustling nature of the city.
-----
I knocked on the door of the flat, hoping that I'd got the number right.
A man with brown hair answered the door, he looked the same age as me which I was relieved at.
"You must be Dan, come in," he spoke with a northern accent.
"Thank you," I answered and entered the apartment.
"I'll take your coat for you," he smiled and held out his arm.
I processed the information for a second before it clicked and I hurriedly unzipped my jacket.
"Your room is down the hall and to the left," he gestured with his spare hand as he took the coat.
"Thanks," I answered and picked up my wet bags, making sure they don't touch anything.
"Chris, who's there?" Called a voice from behind a door. I was surprised as I didn't know another person was in the flat, I'd just assumed he lived alone.
"Dan, our new roommate," Chris replied then directed his attention to me. "I'll introduce you to him later, first go dry off and settle in."
I nodded and shuffled down the hallway, awkwardly carrying my suitcase in front of me. Manoeuvring so I could reach the door handle, glad Chris had gone, I swung open the door and entered the room. Dropping my bag, I flipped the light switch and inspected my new home.
The walls and carpet were a cream colour, the light reflected off them and made the room seem bigger. The curtains covered up a window above the head of the bed and I could hear the faint hustle of the city through it. A full length mirror was propped up against one of the walls, at least I can do my hair without having to leave the room.
A double bed was in the middle, it's duvet cover and pillow cases an ebony black. Well at least it reflects my soul.
A desk is to the right with a chest of drawers. To the left are two mysterious doors.
Curious, I stepped up to the first one and opened it. It revealed a en suite bathroom containing a toilet and a shower. Happy with my find I opened the second door; a wardrobe.
I sat on the edge on my bed and stared in wonder around the room, how is this so cheap?
I decided to take a shower, now that I have my very own. I walked into the bathroom and locked the door behind me. At least Chris seems nice.
