Kayla swiped up a holographic diagram of the product as General Hagar watched in interest, wondering what the scientist had come up with.

Susan was present in the room with the three as she had been the one to give Reed the idea of a Tachyon pulse. How she did it, the older Richards sibling didn't go into detail.

"So, how exactly does this thing work?" The General asked as he inspected the diagram of a mini glass dome with four prods sticking out on either side of it.

"Well, when we activate the field," Reed began his explanation. "It'll separate him from his board, essentially making him powerless."

The holographic diagram showed the General a trail version of how it would work, which he seemed to like the idea of.

"It's like a fish in a net." General Hagar said in realisation.

"Yeah." The engaged couple responded simultaneously, smiling at each other.

"Well, if you want to be boring and describe it as that." Kayla added softly and swiped the screen, making the diagram disappear.

As she had done so, the General gestured towards the screen before the diagram had disappeared completely. "How long before this is operational?" He asked the scientist.

"Three hours." Reed replied, taking note of the General's unimpressed look.

"Three hours?" General Hagar repeated with a slow nod.

"Sorry, but your new best buddy isn't here to help so whether you like it or not, you're going to have to deal with that time frame." Kayla said, not caring if she had sounded rude.

Neither Reed or Susan could blame her as they felt exactly the same way. Ever since Reed had started planning on how exactly they were going to separate the Silver Surfer from his board, Victor had done the bear minimun - as if he wasn't helping at all.

General Hagar accepted the time frame reluctantly with a nod before he turned his gaze to the scientist. "What do you need to make this happen?" He asked

"Actually, there are a couple of things.." Reed began to list off.

Kayla made her way down the hallway of the building that they were currently being held in, towards one of the guest bedrooms in which she and Johnny were supposed to be sharing. On her way, the door to the male showers opened and a certain blonde exited, making the brunette stop in her tracks.

He wore nothing but a white towel around his waist with his wet hair and upper body glistening with water droplets.

She couldn't help but let her eyes fall onto his upper body for a moment, biting her lower lip as she stared - even though his back was turned towards her. She had to admit, she quite enjoyed this sight.

Johnny continued to make his way down the hallway towards the bedroom with a sigh, not even realising that Kayla was behind him until he heard her voice call out to him softly.

"Hey."

He twisted himself around, a shocked expression taking over his features at the sight of the 5'2" brunette as she began walking up to him with a small smile on her lips.

Almost instantly, a smile of his own began forming at the corners of his mouth. "Hey.." He responded, happy that he was seeing her, even more so that she was talking to him. It had been a while since they had really been in the same room alone since.. Well.. Since he screwed up again.

Suddenly, he couldn't help but gesture towards the bathroom door with a mischievous grin. "Were you just waiting outside the bathroom to try and catch me in a towel?" He asked with a teasing grin, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively as he used his powers to make the thin layer of water - that still covered his body - to turn into steam.

A soft giggle escaped from Kayla as she tried so hard for the life of her to hide it but the blonde male noticed, and couldn't help but smile at the sound. God, he missed the sound of her laugh.

"Oh, baby." She said and looked up at him through her lashes with a mysterious and playful glint in her hazel eyes. "If I could touch you right now, I would rip that towel off and have my way with you." She teased, biting her lip as her eyes trailed his muscular body.

"God, yes.." Johnny mumbled, watching her every move.

All of a sudden, her smile dropped as she dropped her gaze to the floor. "I'm sorry." She apologised softly.

Johnny looked at her incredulously. "What?" He asked, confused. "Why are you apologising?"

What did she have to be sorry for? He was the one screwing everything up, not her.

"For pushing." She said simply and met his blue gaze. "And it's okay. When you are ready to tell me, I'll be waiting, ready to listen."

He took a step closer, searching her hazel eyes for the sudden change in attitude towards him. "Where is this coming from?" He asked softly, mere inches away from her.

A small smile reappeared on her lips. "Sue assured me that whatever it is that you're keeping from me, might not be what I'm making it out to be. I think I just needed that reassurance, you know?" She said honestly. "Just promise me that you'll tell me eventually? And hopefully not take too long while you're about it. Patience isn't exactly my strongest trait."

Johnny let out a soft chuckle as he shook his head with a smile. "No, it's not." He responded and stared down at her seriously. "But I promise."

Her smile broadened. "That's all I ask." She said. "Oh, and we'll be leaving in about ten minutes or so to get the Surfer. So you might want to have another shower and suit up. A cold one while you're at it."

She smirked with a wink as she walked passed him towards their bedroom to suit up while holding back her laughter. Although, all hopes of that failed when the blonde male called after her.

"Evil!" Johnny yelled with a groan.

"I know!" She yelled back with a smirk.
