Character Interview Questions

A Character Interview is one of the most common ways for a writer to begin to develop the characters in the story. Almost all writers will tell you that by the end of the interview the character is beginning to feel real to them.

1. At the top of the page, please include the following:

2. You must answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper for both of your project's characters (protagonist and antagonist). All answers must be from each character's point of view. As such, the answers should be written in a first-person ("I") format.

3. Each character must have answered their own set of questions at the same time, before the writer moves on to the next character.

3. Since this is supposed to be fun, you or your character is NOT to use bad language or vulgarity. That way every producer, director, or any member of PSCC can enjoy these.

4. Have fun and Get into your character's head. Have at it!

Part I: Let's Start at the Beginning...

3. Do you have a nickname? If yes, what is it and how did you come to have it?

4. What species are you? (Human, werewolf, etc? Or are you an alien?)

Part IV: Now We Get Personal

28. Your worst fear? You don't have to answer this one if you don't want to.

32. Something embarrassing? You don't have to answer this one, either.

33. If you didn't answer Questions 28 and/or 32, tell me why.

Part V: Breaking the Fourth Wall

For these next few questions, I'll briefly remove the fourth wall between your world and your creator's. Try to remain calm.

35. Before I remove the fourth wall, tell me: would you be willing to accept the fact that you're actually a character?

36. Now the fourth wall's gone. Response?

37. This is your creator's world. What's the first thing you notice?
