It was a lively night. The streets were littered with people that filled the silence of the night with their joyful yells. The melody of shattering glass and gunshots accompanied the rhythm of Jaymie's rapid heartbeat. Jaymie stood still, paralyzed at the sight of chaos. The world has finally come to an end.
And Jaymie smiled, knowing that he has found what he was longing for.
*****Before The Dark Rapture****
The streetlights illuminated the pavement as the sun sunk on the horizon. Billboards and neon signs started to flicker alive, on a particular neon sign, the words 'FoodBar' flashed. Inside sat two teenagers, bickering along the counter.
"Hey, Jay! Get me some coffee!"
"Fuck you and your coffee."
"You're so damn lazy, Jay." One of the teens rolled his eyes and sighed heavily.
"Shut up." The other one, Jaymie, looked at the clock, and with a clap, smiled. He strutted towards a coat hanger on the far side of the building and hooked his work uniform before he grabbed his bag. Jaymie wiggled his eyebrows at his companion and stretched.
"Hey boss! I'll leave now!" Jaymie bolted out the door, not bothering to wait for a reply. His friend followed behind, rolling his eyes and shaking his head.
"It's not that I'm lazy Haze, it's just that my shift was about to end. You know how I can't stand working past my shift." Jay said before he shrugged.
"Yeah, yeah, let's just go home." The teen, Haze, wore a strained smile as he paced beside Jay, who was squinting at him.
"In a bad mood already?" Jaymie chuckled, "When we get home you get your coffee, aight?" He said as he lightly shoved Haze and put his arms on Haze's shoulders. "You coffee addict."
Haze cracked his knuckles and glared. He put his arm around Jaymie's shoulder and with a grunt he squeezed Jaymie's neck, like a wrestler subduing his opponent. Jaymie and Haze basically had the same build, however, Haze's was a bit bulkier than Jaymie. Despite Jaymie's attempts to be free from Haze's death squeeze, the squeeze merely became tighter. To Jaymie's annoyance, Haze wouldn't let go until they reached their apartment.
Jaymie plunged into the soft cushions of the sofa, breathing heavily as he did. Haze went in and turned on the lights, revealing a room filled with family portraits that hung orderly around every corner of the house. The floor glinted white and the walls were unblemished.
"Jay, you were going to make me coffee right?" Haze wiped at Jaymie's sweat that clung to his one arm as he smirked.
"You fuck! Make your own!" Jaymie rubbed at the back of his neck, groaning and mumbling complaints as he did so.
Haze chuckled and went to the kitchen. Jaymie sprawled at the couch and closed his eyes. "Fuck that guy."
A little later, Haze came in with a bag of chips and a cup of coffee. He spotted Jaymie sleeping and shook the bag of chips beside his head. Jaymie awakened and raised his eyebrows at Haze who was winking. Jaymie scoffed as he yanked the bag of chips which elicited a laugh from Haze in response. "Jaymie, don't be mad, this is what you get for being an ass." He held the remote and the TV filled the room's silence with Spongebob's voice.
"If I'm an ass, you and your coffee addiction is a pain in the ass."
"Huh? What? You mean I'm hurting your feelings or something?"
"Bitch you choked me."
"Yeah, yeah, I apologize but it's what you get. Now shut up, Plankton's about to get the Krabby Patty formula."
