Ashley and I walked into the living room and saw Will and Carlton watching tv. I was staying for the week while my grandfather had a teacher conference to go to in San Francisco

"Are you guys just gonna watch TV all day?" Ashley asked

"Come on, girls, this is for school." Will told us

"Our spokesmodel winner is Brandy!" The man on the TV said as Will and Carlton cheered

"I knew she was going to win, man." Will said

"Look, I know you two haven't had dates in a while but how desperate can you get?" I asked

"Well, I know how desperate I can get. How about you, Carl?" Will asked

"Sky's the limit." Carlton said as I rolled my eyes

"You better go lock up your Barbies." I told Ashley as she walked out the living room as I sat down

"I-I don't know, Carlton, man. It sure has been a long time since I had a girl." Will said as Carlton scoffed

"Tell me about it. Last Friday, the school nurse started looking good to me." Carlton said as I looked at him weirdly

"Yeah, man, there's something about how them fat ankles roll over them squeaky white shoes." Will said

"You guys are sad. Wait no not sad. More like desperate" I told them

"Oh yeah and when was the last time you had a date" Carlton asked

"I don't need a date. I'm an independent woman who doesn't need a guy to feel happy about myself" I told them when Mrs. Banks walked in

"Will you get ready for dinner? This girl's going to be here any minute." Mrs. Banks told the boys

"Girl?" They both asked standing up

"Kayla Samuels. She's a scholarship student
and she has so much potential. She just needs to be pointed in the right direction." Mrs. Banks told us

" What's she like?" I asked

"Oh, she's a lovely girl." Mrs. Banks said

"Red flag." Carlton told Will

"Yo, what's up?" Will asked

"Mom's speaking in the secret code
of mothers everywhere. When she says, "Lovely girl" that means, "Get out the milk bones." Carlton told him

"Carlton, please, I'm just looking out for
her. And I want you, Zora, and Will to make her feel welcome." She said

"Uh, we will, Aunt Viv." Will told her

"Besides, she's a darling girl with a nice personality." Mrs. Banks said

"Uh-oh. I know that one." Will said as I looked confused

"What one?" I asked

"Nice personality" means she's protected
by Greenpeace." Will said

"Okay time out so if "nice personality" and "lovely girl" are red flags. What am I?" I asked

"Well you're" Will said as I cut him off

"Do I not have a nice personality? Am I not lovely?" I asked

"Well you're" Carlton said as I cut him off

"So what am I" I asked as they tried to think of something

"You guys can't give me an explanation can you. So the next time you hear some is lovely and has a nice personality. You might want to give them a second thought" I told them as they stayed silent
