She saw the axe swing down and cleave off the head of her father, and though she was numb all over, Misty still felt a tear fall down her cheek.

The man pulling her hair making sure she was watching finally let his grip slide. If she had her swords, she'd have had her way with him and everyone else in this tent who wasn't Uncle Barathor, who would have wiped away her tears had their hands both not been tied behind their backs.

Instead, he tilted his helmeted head onto her shoulder and let her alligator tears fall onto it, making a soft tink, tink, tink as they hit the metal.

It felt like a day had passed as she watched the unfamiliar faces of the empire's soldiers wipe up what was left of her father. The man who had raised her all her life. He had to die here in the place she was born. He died because of her. Because they didn't get here in time or with enough guts to take on all of these guards at once. If they had, gods know they'd all be dead and not just Goté.

Misty finally closed her eyes and tried to think of the last thing she'd said to him. She hoped it was I love you. She knew she didn't have to thank him for teaching her everything she knows. He knew. He always knew what he had meant to her. He was her only family down here.

What am I supposed to do now? She thought of her friends. Of Grugnar's grunts and hearty laugh that once scared her, but now she only thought of the half orcs fondly.

The incredible stew and homemade ramen that the other, Godrun, made for all of them. She thought of the time she had passed out from the poison of a frog on their first mission together, and he'd graciously carried her with them instead of letting her fail.

She pictured Gome's charming smile and bald head. She remembered him jumping on pow pow frogs and his powerful punches and kicks. All the memories with Gome made her heart warm.

Then she thought of Kellen. His daring intentions, always causing trouble, even when they were kids. Him drinking too much and then telling her too much. She worried for him more than anyone in the group. They'd left him a long way away with the hope of saving her own father.

She guiltily shook the thoughts away, hoping Barathor's voice would be the next she heard. That wasn't the case. The booming voice she did hear, however, belonged to the general who'd ordered her father's head off.

The two adventurers were dragged, not so kindly, to a large ship. All of Misty's tries to break free were pointless, the soldiers shoving her to the ground, whispering in her ear,

"Don't be so fucking squirmy or you'll get more than just my meat on this ride"

She gave up after a while, letting them drag her and her dwarven companion onto the boat. When she looked up at it, it loomed over her like her father used to.

They were promptly taken to the lower deck and shoved into a cell where they'd be locked up until their destination. They were headed to the mainland where they'd be put on trial. Misty, as a young 18 year old woman, didn't really know what that meant and she was terrified to find out. Once she and Barathor were alone, she sighed deeply.

"What do you think will happen to us?" Another involuntary tear slid down her dark cheek, sparkling until it absorbed into her shirt, which she now noticed was torn quite a bit.

Her leather armor, which was only slightly beat up, may be the only reason her breasts wouldn't escape their outfit. There were sweat stains all over her from running for an entire day straight and her eyes were so puffy, you could barely see her dark vision kick on. Barathors glowed with the same golden light that hers did as his magic vision came on as well.
