When he got home he couldn't wait to show his dad and stepsister. He was excited, but for some reason he was nervous too.
His dad looked emotional. Wearing that face adults make when they need to break some bad news, or feel guilty. That's when his dad told him. Most people think that only girls should wear dresses. And that while Tyler-Arther was more then welcome to wear whatever makes him happy, other people might make fun of him for it. Or treat him differently.
That some people. A lot of people, actually. Might not understand. And that anyone who says that he's not supposed to be wearing a dress, isn't worth his time.
Because they're behind the times. And they're wrong. That that was why people at the store were looking at him weird. That that was why the cashier was so confused.
They didn't think that such a normal boy like him would ever wear a dress. Much less to school. But Tyler-Arther took this all in stride. After all, even if the kids at school want to make fun of him and his dress, he's protected at school no matter what he wears. By the adults. Wasn't he?
