I'm Glad I Waited That Last Day For The Mail To Run

every few days i'd drive down

the country mountain road

to the local lone liquor store

pick up plenty of coors light

whiskeys .. wines and such

i'd place the beer in snow

just outside the front door

cool coors light tasted great

soothing the burning sensations

throughout our bodies from the cocaine

only job available .. close by

was working on a mushroom farm

unexpectedly it turned out

to be a prison work camp

illegal aliens were the only employees

I discovered all of their needs

were taken care of .. shelter

food .. a few dollars for alcohol

is the only pay they received

they seemed real happy with that

no surprise I refused the job offer

on a random trip to the liquor store

I decided to use a public phone

called back home to louisiana

had my income tax check sent to me

six long weeks trapped in the mountains

I began checking the mailbox every day

viola .. venecia and I planned to move

east to joplin, missouri .. their hometown

drugged mario became extremely sad

our remaining days were hard .. pure hell

we were still snorting large quantities

of the high grade cocaine

one thing was really good

mario didn't have his pistol

mario said he'd drive venecia home

I announced i'd drive viola and myself

moving day arrived .. my check came

mario and venecia left early .. we were far behind

i'm glad I waited that last day for the mail to run
