He listened when I spoke, made me feel so important
His shoulder was always available to cry on with arms wide open
His hands - my tissue, wiping the tears away
Never raised his voice or ever lifted a finger,
maintained self control when I crossed the line enraged with anger
Loved me for who I was - no ifs, ands or buts about it
I know now that his love was real, no doubt about it
He supported the things I did, was always in attendance
Soft touch? Tender kiss? Tight hugs?
He did all of the above
He spoke with so much compassion, you could tell that he cared
I'll never find another like him
Mad at myself for letting him
slip through my fingers
I know there is no guarantee that we could ever be
again
But I want to say thank you, because you taught me how to love.
