Chapter 24. Paradise.

"Welcome to Isla dela Vega!"

Drew was beaming with pride while pointing at an island below.

Good Lord...

If we are dead, then we are seeing a paradise right now.

"Oh my gosh... Now I can die peacefully..." sambit ni Dove na nagpatawa sa lahat.

"Wait 'til you see the island itself." Sagot ni Enzo

Yes, I was wearing my headphones but hearing him talk just made my blood rush.

We went closer and closer towards the island hanggang sa magland ito sa malawak na helipad.

Damn.

If Drew had a helipad built on a private island that he owns, then he must be super-freaking rich.

This man right here, bearing the dela Vega name, owns this freakin beautiful island, just sitting right here among us.

I mean, what the hell?

I know, they're Elite Men... but sometimes, it's just so overwhelming.

If they can own an island, I don't know how much more their money can buy.

I looked at Dove and he looked back at me dreamily, saka dumako sa isla ang paningin niya. He's already bewitched.

The big flying machine stopped. We unbuckled at isa-isa nang bumaba ng chopper. Hinintay naming makababa ang couples bago umere ang sinakyan nila sa himpapawid.

"Rick will be back after 5 days. This one will stay in case of emergency." Sabi ni Enzo nang makalipad na palayo ang chopper.

"What kind of emergency?" Tanong ni Ruby na nasa tabi ko na with her arm wrapped with her husband's arm.

"In case somebody wants to go home."

My heart stopped.

Is he talking about me? I mean, am I that 'somebody'?

"And why would somebody leave my beautiful island?" Tanong ni Drew na nakapamewang at kunot na kunot ang noo.

He looked like a Dad defending his bullied child.

"Because I'm busy, Drew." matigas na sagot ni Enzo.

He turned his back and walked away.

Just like that...

We just watched him walk away and for me, it felt like it's the longest walk I've ever seen.

It felt like he's never coming back.

Come back from what?

"He never said those things before."

Naputol ang pag-iisip ko nang magsalita si Hanz.

"What do you mean?" maang na tanong ko.

"Usually, he would cancel everything in his way just to get here." si King na katabi ang asawang si Twix.

"Yup. He wouldn't give a fuck even if you're the Queen of England." Singit naman ni Ken.

"He gets excited whenever he hears the words Isla dela Vega." Si Drew

"Now, he's acting like a robot just going with the flow." si Z

And then there, I saw these men's eyes, looking towards Enzo's traces, with a hint of pain and concern, and disappointment.

It hit me.

It was my fault.

I'm the worst person ever existed on earth.

God, it's my fault!

"Is it just me or is it really strange that you two didn't even fight ever since this morning?"

Sukat doon ay napatanga ako sa nagsalita. I couldn't even say anything while their eyes hold so many questions.

Dove was already too far taking pictures.

Oh please, save me!

"Ken. Aren't you hungry? Help me with these first." untag ni Hanz sa kanya at ipinasa sa kanya ang isang malaking box na halos matakpan na ang mukha niya.

"But—-"

"Hurry up, Kenji. Para makakain na tayo." segunda naman ni Drew na unti-unti nang dinampot and mga iba pang mga gamit namin at saka naglakad na sa cobbled path papunta sa kung saan.

Tahimik namang sumunod ang lahat.

I don't know if everyone noticed pero alam kong may kutob na silang may hindi magandang nangyari sa pagitan naming dalawa ni Enzo.

They just don't ask questions because they know better than to poke at somebody's wounds.

I wish they can hold it for five days...or more.

Napahinga na lang ako nang malalim. I had to absorb fresh air in my lungs dahil pakiramdam ko ay naninikip ang dibdib ko.

Thank God for the tall trees and the scenic beauty of nature.

Patuloy pa rin kami sa paglalakad hanggang sa marating namin ang isang napakandang Log House.

Nope. It's a fucking Mansion, for Pete's sake!

Kaya pala hindi namin makita agad dahil napapalibutan ito ng naglalakihang mga puno.

It was simply breath-taking.

Hindi ko alam kung ilang katao ang kayang ma-acommodate ng mansion na ito but damn it's really huge.

"Oh my Lord... I would trade my all my Louis Vuitton for this!" bulalas ni Dove

"Now I'm jealous! This is dreamy..." si Twix na napayakap pa sa asawa

"Drew, why did you take this long to take us here? I mean seriously, this is perfect honeymoon place." sabi naman ni Ruby na nagpahalakhak kay Z.

Ugh. Hindi pa yata tapos ang honeymoon nitong dalawa at balak pang ituloy rito.

But what she said was true.

This mansion is perfect.

"How did you even build a mansion this big? And in the heart of this island!?" Hindi ko na napigilang magsalita.

This place deserves a million praise.

"It wasn't easy but... these five morons helped me turn this into reality. Mostly from Enzo, he's the only one who can fly, you know. He put the most effort carrying stuff and fly it here. So everything you see here, went through Enzo. That's why this island is really close to his heart, all of us. They helped me create a paradise out of nothing." Drew said sincerely and I can feel every word he says is really touching.

They've been friends since they were kids and never left each other. Even if they're grown-ups now and is already starting to build a family of their own, you can feel that they're buddies for life.

I felt I was going to cry kaya ibinaling ko sa iba ang tingin ko.

But I wished I didn't.

Because all I saw was him...

Standing there, his eyes, cold as ice, never met mine...

He never said a word or even look at me even once.

And for the first time in my life, I felt really scared.

Scared that I have made him the one that got away...
