Chapter 1: Choose

Today was the day that would determine my entire future. It was the day of the choosing ceremony. All the kids around my age had to do a test that would give them a clearer view of which faction they would fit in best. I had my test taken a few days ago. The results were not what I expected since I turned to be divergent and that is the only thing you don't want to be in this world. Especially if you were born in Erudite. Someone who is divergent isn't bound to one faction, they could fit in everywhere and that can get you killed. In my case I belong to Candor, Erudite, Abnegation and Dauntless according to my results. Jae my examiner who belonged in Dauntless told me to choose wisely and choose any other faction than Erudite. He told me that Erudite was hunting for divergents but he wouldn't tell me the reason, maybe he didn't know as well. But the thing is I come from Erudite, my parents and my faction expect me to choose them since they believe I have the potential to get a high position and eventually lead them after Max and Yunho our current leaders. I was so lost in thoughts that I didn't hear the faction leader of Abnegation call out my name.

I walked to the stage where the five bowls of each faction where displayed. I had to cut myself and let my blood drip in the bowl of the faction I choose as a sign that I couldn't go back. The factions that exist in this world are Candor, the faction of the honest truth. The second one is Dauntless our soldiers and fighters. Then comes amity our peaceful farmers. The fourth one is my home faction erudite what consists of scientist and other smart people and lastly Abnegation, that is the faction that's takes care of the homeless or as we call them factionless. You become factionless if you break the law or don't meet the requirements of the faction you choose. It will be determined during your first few weeks of training if you become factionless or not. I let my eyes fall on the bowls and carefully placed the knife in the palm of my hand before cutting myself. I could feel the blood streaming out of the cut and turned around to look at the smiling faces of my parents. I sighed in defeat as I remembered Jae his words, There for I raised my arm above the dauntless one and saw my blood drip in the basin. The faction I choose was announced and everyone clapped except for my parents who glared at me with hatred shown in their eyes. I made my way over to the dauntless faction where I took place next to a tall male with black hair with yellow clothes from Amity, he introduced himself as Yunho. We waited until all the other young adults choose their faction before we stood up and followed the leaders of the dauntless faction to our new family. I tried to look at my parents one more time only to see that they were already gone.

Yunho grabbed my shoulder and pulled me after him as we ran outside. Everyone began to run faster and we ran after them trying to keep up. We saw them climbing up different pools to get to the train station above us. I tried to climb up but almost fell but someone grabbed my arm and helped me to get to the top. I looked at the male to see he was very muscular witch chestnut brown hair. "Thank you" I tell him out of breath.
"No problem." He answers before running after the others with me following suit. Then Yunho appeared next to me again and gasped for air "We are going to die."
I laughed awkwardly before we picked up the pace and followed the group. Then a train rode next to us and we saw the people jump inside. I looked at Yunho who had a mortified expression on his face before jumping on the train. I saw Yunho grab one of the handles while struggling to get inside. I grabbed his arm and pulled him in the wagon. He panted and looked at me thankful "Well maybe I should stay with you if I want to survive."
"That will get you killed."
"That is what my sister said when I told her I would choose for Dauntless. "Yunho replies blood serious. I laughed and calmed down my raising heart as the train rode on.
