The unfortunate college students who got stuck in Mt. Fuji mid-winter.

Nobody really knew why the students decided it was a good idea to hike mount Fuji during winter, but they pushed through. Reports from the witnesses and their friends state that they were acting strangely for two whole weeks prior to the incident. There was one instance, that a friend of theirs named Bokuto Kotaro called in for a mental check.

The authorities deemed it useless and gave them haphazard testing just to stay they've done something.
Records say that the students were up in the mountain for a whole week, before being found. The investigation stated that they only brought meals suitable for three days, so they assumed that they couldn't make it down in time. They found a carcass of a bear and a stray wild rabbit near their camp, so they must've eaten them.

Senpai, I'm kinda nervous about writing this e-mail.

The events are just so bizarre that it sends up shivers down my spine. It was said that none of them bothered to bring their phones, and all five shared a medium size tent, only good for 3 people, but they somehow made it work.

Some close to the victims said that they haven't been checking on their phones for months, and they were constantly absent from their classes despite having a perfect record the past semester.

They wouldn't let people in their apartment and they'd only use delivery services to buy food. And upon further investigation, the only thing they ate for a whole month and during the camp was chilled tofu and rice. It was said that before they started acting weird, they were still able to tell their friends about a really strange man they came across.

No other detail was provided except that all 5 of them collectively claimed that he had an abnormally low voice. They weren't able to provide a physical description of this man. But it's only speculation that he was involved.

The problem I have with this monthly article, Senpai, is the discrepancies that have surfaced post-investigation.

It was rather strange, but then they examined the bear only to find out that the body was a month old. It was already dead before they got to kill it, but not so much to the point that they ate remnants of the corpse.

It's disgusting and vile but I don't think they were given a choice.

And, the way they froze to death, was rather terrifying. I haven't mentioned the fact that they had missing fingers and chunks of flesh, mainly from the thighs and stomach. Now, it could've been a wild animal or the bear they killed, and the autopsy was overlooked.

But it can't be.

I can get behind the bear theory, I know forensics aren't perfect yet.

But senpai, one more thing that bothers me, during the investigation, they found another climber's backpack. But only 5 of them were seen going up.

Their bodies were also found huddled together, maybe they were seeking heat when the fire burnt out and they ran out of starters.

But the extinguishing of the fire is also a little bit suspicious because it seemed like it was intentionally put off.

I know it's a bold leap of thought here senpai, I can tell you're probably questioning this email right now but I swear I'm not playing pranks.

I only got to make this claim is because–

I'm pretty sure the digested fingers and skin chunks from their own bodies along with their missing intestines despite properly closed stomachs, weren't because of a bear.

Waiting for your response,

Lev Haiba
