"Is it too late to fix this?"

Sapnap snapped his neck to look at where Dream had sat silently in thought for the last thirty minutes. Occasionally the blond would gasp, but then frown, and shake his head and resume the silence. He was utterly concerned for him. "Fix what?"

Clay looked at him, a spark of understanding in his eyes once he figured out he had said that aloud. "Oh, nothing. Sorry."

"Bro, you've been battling yourself for a half hour over there, what could you possibly be thinking?" Sapnap set down his phone and sat up on the couch.

"I-..." he hesitated. "I broke my phone. Yea, and I don't know if I can fix it in time."

Nick slowly pointed to Dream's phone next to the lamp, without a scratch in sight. "...Yea?"

"I messed everything up with George." He threw his head back, rubbing his face with his hands. An agitated groan met Sapnap's ears.

"Oh. Not to be rude, but what was there to mess up? I thought y'all were over." Leave it to Sapnap to be even denser than George and Dream themselves.

"Yea, so did I! And then I-, ugh."

"You what?" But also leave it to Sapnap to want the juicy details.

The rest of the friends were down at the docks, and when Dream had adamantly denied going, Sapnap had stayed behind to chill with him indoors. Occasionally Bad or Wilbur would walk into the house to fetch snacks or sunscreen, but they didn't spare more than a wave.

Dream muttered something through his fingers.

"Huh?"

"Kissed him."

Sapnap looked away, covering his mouth. It wasn't like he wasn't expecting it, but- damn, that happened. "Damn."

"You can NOT say a word about this to anyone," he pleaded weakly. "It wasn't supposed to happen."

"How- how did you even get in a situation where that was an option?" Nick asked stupefied.

"Nick, what I'm about to tell you is between me and you ONLY. Okay?" He looked more serious now, biting his lip.

Sapnap nodded slowly. "My lips are sealed."

"Good." He looked away, his eyes darting around the room while thinking of a place to start. "George cheated on me. That's why we broke up."

The raven-haired boy's jaw dropped. That was one way to start.

"But he told me why, and it was because he was afraid his parents were homophobic, and he didn't want me to get hurt, but obviously you see how that turned out.

"And he was crying last night and- I don't- I mean- I didn't mean to kiss him, it just sorta happened- and he kissed me back and I don't know what to think."

"Did he say anything afterwards?"

Dream shook his head. "We went to bed, and I haven't seen him since. He got up early to avoid me."

"And you said he kissed you back?" Sapnap tried his best to be a therapist, and Dream appreciated the effort.

"I think so."

"What if you guys like, got back together? Instead of skipping around."

Dream looked as if Sapnap had just asked him to leap into the deepest layer of hell blindfolded, his expression of pure anguish. "Are you insane?!"

"...No?" Sapnap crossed his arms. "You kissed him, he kissed you back. I'm no mathematician, but that adds up to mutual attraction."

Clay sat back in an unsatisfied manner. "He cheated on me, Sapnap."
