"Some meal, ball thing" i say
"Oh the staff annual one?" She asks and I nod
"That's the one, you want to come?" I ask her
She scoffs, "no, I'm glad I'm away from all of that nonsense"
"It's not nonsense" i say
"I know it's not for you but with everything that happened with my family, it's just not the same" she says and i nod
"Okay"

I walk into my last lesson of the day. My day has actually gone super fast, it's quiet weird how fast it has gone. I have been flying through all of my work because... well I've already learnt it.
Bonus of private school I guess.
Not like there is many.
"Miss Scott, am I correct?" He asks
"Yes sir" i say, "sorry I'm late I got lost"
"It's alright, we've all been new at some point. I'm Mr Keen, your marine biology teacher" he says
"Nice to meet you sir, I'm Ella" i say
"Just take a seat where's free" he says and i nod glancing around the room, at every staring face at me.
Okay, very intimidating.
Every seat is taken except for one table at the back.
I happily make my way over and sit down on the seat closest to the window.
"Ah mr Johnson" Mr Keen says
"Sorry I'm late sir" Alex says
"It's alright, take a seat anywhere that's free" he says
I look down and cross my leg over the other and fiddle with my jumper.
He's going to sit here, it's the only place that's free.
"Can I sit here?" He asks me
I look up at him, "yeah"
He puts his bag under the table and sits down next to me.
"I'm Alex" he says
"Ella" I say
He's about to say something but Mr Keen starts talking.
"Okay so in this class I don't mind you having a joke and a laugh but I expect you to do you work as well. If we do that, we'll all get along" he says
Fair enough.
I like this teacher.
"So let's get started, this subject is 40% theory/ coursework, 40% assignments and 20% examination" he says
"So get used to the person your sitting next to, your working with them on your assignments" he says
Oh.
Okay.
Cool.
Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool.
"Your first assignment is due next Tuesday. You will be researching and on the negative effects pollution has on marine life" he says, "I will set you assignments like theses across this term that will all link together"
"Then next year, you will present your research to the class and will be graded" he says
"Does that sound good?" He asks
I nod.
"Talk to me" he says
"Yes sir"
