“Darling, wake up” a soothing voice woke up Sadie from her afternoon nap. A familiar voice she hates and misses at the same time.

“Mom? What are you doing here?” she immediately got up and fixed herself.

“What are you saying dear? You must be tired” her mom chuckled. “Come on down after you finish here, alright? I don’t want you to miss dinner again” she was reminded before her mom went out of her room.

With a lot of questions in her mind, she just shrugged all of it and decided to follow her mom. She did as she was told to as she also missed her mother despite what had happened before.

“Hey there, sushi! It took your mom a long time to finally wake you up” her pesky stepdad said to her. She just rolled her eyes and went over to the dinning table.

“Sadie, darling, don’t roll your eyes on you father. That’s disrespectful” her mom said as they all sat around the table.

“He’s not my father and he will never be” she murmured. Her mom and stepdad couldn’t do anything so they just let it pass.

Sadie and her stepdad have a nemesis type of relationship. They hate each other to the core. Mike, her stepdad, would always offer her money just so she would not show herself in their house. Her mom knows about it but wouldn’t dare call him out, for they solely depend on his income as a vice president of a beyond successful company.

They finished their dinner with an awkward atmosphere, as they always do. Sadie won’t need to move an inch around the house because they are always assisted by maids.

As she was about to go up to her room, Mike stopped her from doing so.

“You disrespect me once more, and I’ll permanently ban you from this house. You don’t even deserve to be here because you’re not my own. If it were not for your mother, I would’ve beaten you up every time you disrespect me” he threatened her.

"Do you really think I like it here? You can have my mom for all you want. If it weren't for your money, I would've just go to my father who really loves me and cares for me, unlike mom who just keeps me for getting her wealthy friends" she tearfully said and walked out on him.

She cried herself to sleep and was again woken up by a loud banging on her door.
She got up from her bed and immediately opened the door. She was greeted by a strong slap from her mother.

"HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT I AM ONLY KEEPING YOU TO GAIN FRIENDS? HAVEN'T I DONE ENOUGH? I GAVE BIRTH TO YOU, FED YOU, DRESSED YOU, AND THIS IS HOW YOU'RE GOING TO REPAY ME? AM I NOT MOTHERLY ENOUGH TO YOU?" her mom grabbed her from her hair and slammed her across the room.

"Why is it not true? Every time you introduce me to a friend of yours it wasn't just an introduction. YOU LET THEM TOUCH ME ANYWHERE! YOU DIDN'T CARE EVEN IF THEY ARE BEING INAPPROPRIATE TO ME! YOU LEFT ME WITH ONE YOUR SO CALLED FRIEND AND HE TRIED TO RAPE ME! IF I HADN'T ESCAPE FROM HIM, I WOULD'VE BEEN DIRTY FROM NOW. I ASKED YOU TO CALL THE COPS ON HIM, REMEMBER? BUT WHAT DID YOU TELL ME? YOU TOLD ME TO SHUT MY DAMN MOUTH AND STOP TELLING LIES! HOW IS THAT MOTHERLY?" she shouted back while crying her eyes out. Even though she and her mom are always like this, she still loves because she knows where this is all coming from. Her mom just blankly stared at her and went out of her room without saying anything.

Her mom has a condition where she will just randomly be violent towards someone without remembering it happening afterwards. At times, Sadie would just let it pass, but tonight, her anger just bursted. Her mom is well-aware of her friends molesting her daughter, but she always reasons out that the past is all in the past and that she did it to have money..........for gambling......with those friends.

Once again, Sadie had to cry all night to get all her anger out. Crying tire her, which helped her to sleep for at least 5 hours before her stepdad barged in her room early in the morning.

"Wake up, scumbag!" he yelled. "It's time to plan for your college and get your own life" he added. Sadie got up from her bed to face Mike.

"I guess we both agree that I'll take a dorm right?" she asked.

"Even if you don't want to" he said with a smirk. "Now, change into some presentable clothes, and by that, I mean your mother wants you to meet someone" he scoffed and left her room.

She took out a dress with spaghetti straps which was given by her mom to be worn when meeting guests.

She went straight to the living room and nervously sat down on the couch where her mom and Mike are.

"Now, while we wait for my friend, we will talk about your college" her mom said.

"Now that you got accepted to Yale, I am willing to pay for all the expenses including your monthly allowance which will be transferred in your account. You can only come back here on holidays, but that is entirely up to you. You can ask me for any amount of money as long as you stay out of my way. Are we clear?" Mike started.

"But I do wish that you consider coming home on holidays" her mother added.

"I accept all assistance you provide me. I am thankful that we can agree on at least one thing. Don't worry, I won't make any unannounced visits unless it's an emergency. I would also like to ask about my health insurance" Sadie replied to them.

"My secretary worked on that already. You can hospitalise yourself as much as you want to" Mike said. As they were wrapping up their conversation, the doorbell rang which was then answered by one of the maids. A man was lead to the living room where they are at.

"Now sweetie, we'll leave you to Mr. Lane. Make sure to keep him entertained while we get his papers ready" her mom said and stood up along with Mike.

"Mom, please. Don't leave me here. I can't bare this anymore. Please, mom!" she begged, tearing up but she was just ignored.

As Mr. Lane started touching her and forcing her hand on his chest, she began to hear her name being called out again and again.

"Sadie! Sadie! Wake up!"

She immediately woke up, catching her breath. She looked to her side and saw Cindy and immediately hugged while crying.

"You were sweating so much and looked like you were struggling so I began to worry" Cindy explained.

"I dreamt of it again" she cried to her. "It always haunts me. It never stops" she cries even more.

"You're safe now, I'm here. I will never let your mother do that to you ever again. You and I went through the same thing, it's a good thing for us that our mothers aren't insane enough to let them go further than touching" Cindy comforts her.

"You were right. It's best if I don't go there for the holidays. Let's push through that road trip" Sadie firmly said and Cindy gave her and encouraging look.

Hi there! Ms. Author here. I'm sorry if there were any triggering scenarios in this chapter. I promise that this will be the only time that those situations will be tackled thoroughly. I just wanted to give you a background about Sadie's remorse for her mother and stepdad. Anyways, thank you for tuning in.
