Year of Misfortune

The whole earth cowered, blanketed with fear.
Like the box of Pandora was opened this year
Kings of nations were confused and baffled.
As their people's voices were shut, muffled

At the start of spring, fire scorned the earth.
Like a phoenix's death but with no rebirth
Ashes became the soil, as the air turned to smoke.
Like searing charcoal, it burned all the oak.

But if it wasn't enough, there came a deathly plague.
To where it came from, the answers were vague.
Our unity fell as we were forced to confine
In our little houses with no choice to decline

Broken lungs and broken hearts
We were torn, separated apart
Build bigger walls, it won't act as a defense
From our greatest enemy, lady pestilence

Like the time of Noah and his calamities
Or the Dark Ages in Ancient Greece
Scourge began to walk the face of the earth
As if mother nature is declaring her worth.
