The situation continued to intensify and every move made was countered perfectly by the antagonist. What worried him wasn't the danger posed to his own life but the many lives of others — especially Naailah's. If she continued to use her gift and change the outcomes of the war, she would end up as a casualty herself.

Ilias rushed into the planning room and reported, "War zones have been marked."

Ilias hurriedly pulled on the strings of the scroll and rolled out a map, a square was marked in red between the Iftian lands of Arkus, Elgens, Eseia and Tivaet. Closing his hands into tight fists, Rowan paled at the thought of it before speaking, "We're warring in Iftia's coldest tundra."

"The climate is extremely harsh for basic survival," Alec pointed out, fully understanding his concern. But he also added, "Even her troops might not survive this, what was she even thinking?"

"You're wrong, they will win this." Rowan pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance and continued, "As the Regent, she holds onto the war stone."

"Darned," Kaylon cursed. "She also holds over Matthias right now."

"The situation is unfavourable," Tristan said in a grave tone. "Tazin couldn't step in because Naailah is held hostage. We could only ask for Queen Elizabeth's help now. We can—"

"You will not pull Elianna into this," Rowan said in a warning tone.

"Rowan," Tristan stood from his seat, agitated. "She's the only person who can obtain a war stone for us now!"

"War stones cannot be used by outsiders, Tristan. A war stone from Thethia can only be used by royal ancestors of Thethia," Rowan clenched his jaw slightly, trying to explain, "Elizabeth cannot be part of the war. She no longer has the capacity after giving a large part of her gift to Elianna."

"This is why we need Elianna to be in this war with us," Ilias attempted. "Please think it through, Rowan. We need this edge to stand a chance in this war."

A hurt surfaced and he dropped his head low to avoid the intensity of the everyone's gaze when he spoke in a low voice, "How can I risk sending my wife to the war front?"

Cornered by all circumstances, he knew that he shouldn't be making decisions based on his emotions. His knights were right and they needed a war stone to be on the same levelled ground. Yet, he couldn't help but think of Arell. A part of his heart couldn't bear to take Elianna away from him, especially not when he's still so young.

This war of vengeance mattered to him, it was everything that he had worked for till now. But everyone by his side also mattered to him — they're the only family left to him. His heart was torn, not knowing who he should be protecting more than the other.

The door into the planning room was pushed ajar to reveal four feline silhouettes. Izekiel entered the planning room together with Thunder and another two men. Everyone stilled until Izekiel signalled, "Continue the discussion, we'll add from there."
