Chapter 18

"Yah!" Ara said, shoving herself between the two. "Listen to Jeno and stay away from Jaemin!"

How annoying.

Yerin scoffed. "You two are unbelievable."

Yerin walked away, heading to the cafeteria when she felt some grab onto her.

"Yah, let go of- Renjun?"

Yerin was surprised to see that the fashion student was the one stopping her, expecting to see Jeno or Ara instead.

"What did Jeno tell you?" Renjun asked but Yerin shook her head.

"This is stupid." Yerin muttered, shaking Renjun off. "Why are you all so controlling?"

"I'm not being controlling." Renjun said, chasing her. "I know you like Jaemin back, why do you act like you don't?"

Yerin froze in her place. "What do you know?"

Renjun shook his head. "I'm not stupid, Yerin. Do you know how damn awkward it was being at your place alone with you two. I was a complete third wheel. And despite what Jaemin says, I know he has feelings for you as well."

Renjun crossed his arms, staring at the girl. "Anyways, I just want my friend to be happy so do whatever you want with that information. And don't forget to curl your hair this weekend or you'll look stupid in the photos. And watch your eyebrows, they get a little too dark when you do your make up half asleep."

Yerin instantly felt insecure and put a hand on her face, covering her eyebrows. She watched as a smile appeared on Renjun's face. "Yah!"

Renjun simply smiled as he adjusted his bag.

"Have fun with Jaemin." Renjun said before walking away, leaving an embarassed Yerin in the halls.

Jaemin was suprised to hear the commotion inside the apartment as he stood outside, about to open the front door. He took a deep breath before opening it as quietly as he could, trying to hear what his friends were talking about inside.

"You need to stop controlling him, Jeno. It's not the same." Renjun.

"Aren't you worried about him too? What happens if what happened to Sieun happens again?" Jeno asked.

"What happens if it doesn't?" Renjun asked back.

"Why can't we just let Jaemin do what he wants?" Haechan said, interrupting the conversation.

"I am." Renjun said. "But Jeno's making it harder by trying to make sure the girl he likes stays far away."

They're talking about Yerin.

"Come on, you've seen Yerin at school. All she does is glare at people, she's probably just trying to make Ara jealous." Jeno told them.

What?

"So does Jaemin." Renjun pointed out. "And we all know that he's a complete softie on the inside."

"Plus, since when did you take Ara's side?" Haechan asked, surprised.

"She's actually not that bad, you all got her wrong." Jeno said. Jaemin didn't even have to look to know that Renjun was shaking his head.

"It's official, you're brainwashed. You can't even tell that Jaemin's fallen for Yerin and instead of being a supportive friend, you're just trying to stop Jaemin from falling in love again." Renjun said, clearly annoyed.

"Me? Brainwashing Jaemin? I'm just trying to protect him from falling into a world where he starts questioning his own existence again." Jeno defended.

Jaemin could tell the fight was getting heated as Haechan stopped speaking, a rare occurance for the group.

"You know what the difference is between Yerin and Sieun?" Renjun asked.

"There is no difference, we all know that." Jeno said.

"That's what you think." Renjun scoffed. "Have you even spoken to Yerin? And I mean speak, not threaten her."

"I-"

"No. The answer is no, you haven't."

Remind me not to get on Renjun's bad side.

"Do you know how I know?" Renjun asked. Jeno was silent. "It's because if you did, you would know that Yerin's fallen for him too."

"Wait what?" Jaemin exclaimed, surprising the others as he stepped out of the shadows. "What did you just say?"

Sheer looks of terror appeared on his friends' faces as they all stared back at him with wide eyes.

"How much did you hear?" Haechan asked, his voice quivering with worry.
