"You-" I stuttered, facing my former best friend. Seeing him from a distance was a lot less pressurising than standing only a couple of metres away. "What, what is going on?"

Jeno seemed to have have an internal debate as his face held a disgruntled yet slightly dazed frown. Pursing his lips in a straight, unfaltering line, he lifted his head slowly. As soon as our eyes connected, he seemed to gasp lightly, loosening his tight grasp slightly. "Hayeon, I-" His voice was soft and had lost the rough tenor he'd previously obtained. This moment of weakness quickly faded, however, and the expressionless soldier came back out to play. "Before you jump down my throat, he was the one who attacked me first."

Jeno looked surprisingly taller than Jungkook on this particular day and, as he glanced down, his scowl furrowed into some indescribable emotion. It could have been pain, anger or even jealousy but the boy appeared to have a tight lid on his emotion and I couldn't quite figure it out.

Jungkook took that brief pause as a sign to start flailing around again. Jeno just tightened his grasp, his nails digging into the sensitive skin on Jungkook's arms. It didn't seem to affect him, however, and he continued his assault. "You deserve it you lying bastar-"

I couldn't help but release a strangled cry as Jeno lifted his knee and slammed the bone into his lower back. Jungkook instantly keeled over, the sudden burst of pain making him cough so hard that I was pleasantly surprised that blood didn't follow.

"Stop it!" I yelled, slightly authoritative and slightly blinded by a sudden fear. I couldn't wrap my head around what I was witnessing; how was Jeno restraining Jungkook, arguably the strongest man on the planet? Sure, Jeno was buff and all but that didn't mean that he should have the strength to hold the boy down. Something suspicious was happening here."Why are you doing this Jeno? What's going on?"

Jeno paused, biting down on his lip, so hard that I expected the skin to split. "Hayeon, it's not what it seems."

The fury bubbled in the pit of my stomach as my knuckles subconsciously clenched at my side. I wanted to hit something. To take my fury out on something, anything. "Not what it seems? First, you're the Captain's son and, secondly, you abducted Jin!" I paused, giving myself a second to catch my breath. I glimpsed up at Jeno and hoped that my next question would lead to desired answers. I didn't want my best friend to be a villain. "Why? You always said that you wanted to help."

"I do." He thought about his answer for a second before shaking his head. "At least, I did. That was never a lie. However, I- There's someone I need to save. I can only do that if I help MediHeal." His words were fast, as if he was trying to upheave them from out of his mouth. In fact, if I was going to describe his emotion, I would say he looked relatively panicky.

"Stop cutting corners and tell her the truth," Jungkook growled. Jeno sneered down at him but couldn't help but notice his throat rise and fall as a gulp escaped.

"What truth?" I felt as though I was scolding a young child and I couldn't help but scoff, realising the weirdness of this entire situation.

There proceeded to be another brief moment of slice before Jungkook spoke again, his voice brimming with venom.

"He's like me. He has an enhancement."

In that moment, my whole world seemed to tilt. I gaped at the absurdity of the statement, my eyes flickering back and fourth between Jungkook's fierce scowl and Jeno's guilty expression. This reality hit me like a thousand knives at once and I had the sudden urge to sit down somewhere. I was feeling a bit queasy.
