She throws one of the kitchen towels at me with a goofy smile. My favorite thing about my grandmother was how we constantly teased each other. I couldn't tease my mom or Phoebe too much, they won't say it to my face but I can tell when they kind of get bothered by it, so I keep this humor for Jess and my abuelita. They tease me back anyway.

Abuelita made 4 tacos, 2 for each of us and we settled down at the table enjoying the morning.

"So how did you sleep" she asks taking a sip of her coffee.

"Not too well honestly I was having a strange dream" I say taking a bite out of the delicious taco.

"Tell me about it?" She says looking at me with furrowed eyebrows.

"Well I can't remember all of it, but it's not the first time I've had it. I've had similar dreams the past two weeks. I keep seeing a silver and grey wolf while I'm running through the woods."

When I look at her for a reaction she has an unreadable expression. Maybe not unreadable so much as I have never seen this look on her face before. It was a mix of fear, but also excitement. She looked deep in thought when I didn't continue on.

"What?" I ask confused.

She shakes her head. "Nothing mija, that's interesting though, you said you've been having these dreams for about 2 weeks?"

"Yeah just about" I say finishing up my breakfast and pushing my cup and plate to the side.

Abuelita doesn't say anything more, but the look on her face told me she had an opinion. I will say she is a little superstitious so maybe she was worried it meant something.

I decided not to press any further since I couldn't even give her more information. All I know is there's a wolf in my dreams, and this morning was the first time I woke up in a panic like that, and according to Phoebe I screamed.

I picked up our plates and cleaned up the kitchen while she went back to her room to read.

After breakfast I started to unpack and put all of my clothes and other things away. I had hoped that after working as an artist assistant for some time I'd be able to afford a place of my own. I was honestly shocked at how much they planned on paying me but the guy said he was desperate for help and I was the one with the best portfolio.

I had been unpacking my things for about an hour. Phoebe and Jr were still asleep, my dad had taken off to work for the day and it was just my mother and abuelita up. I stopped what I was doing when I heard my moms hushed voice from across the hall.

I moved slowly not to make too much noise and catch their attention, or wake up Phoebe. I could barley make out what they were saying but I know it couldn't have been good when I heard my mother shush my grandmother.

I couldn't hear much after and I gave up. I wonder what the hell that was about.

The day went by slowly, it was already 4:30 so I thought it would be best to get ready for dinner with Kai.

I decided for the sake of my sanity I wouldn't tell my family about him just yet. I mean it's one dinner, I know if I bring him up they'll want to meet him and I am definitely not ready for that. I decided that I would explain my absence by tell my family I was going to an art exhibit this evening. They usually don't ever ask to come with me because I can spend hours at one. Most people walk through them and enjoy themselves but I can get stuck at one piece just analyzing it forever. As much as they enjoy themselves they don't want me to feel rushed while looking at everything.

I went ahead and jumped in the shower since I had been outside with my brother all afternoon while he practiced soccer with Phoebe. I of course wasn't involved but the Houston summer heat had already started and I was sweating like a pig just being out there.
