A surge of heat rushed through his back, sharp pain shooting through his lower abdomen, his body warming up, slick flowing down his legs, white spots dancing in his eyes. A wave of nausea hit him with the pain increasing, he grabbed the edges of his desk in a tight grip, in desperate attempt to keep himself up right. His whole being screaming for help but only a choked cry escaped his lips. He felt so weak and he hated being weak.
He was scared of this very moment, now that it was happening he didn't know what to do. Millions of thoughts racing through his mind. Not one of them is positive.
With great difficulty and immense will power he reached for his phone inside his suit pocket to call the only person he knew would be able to help him now, no
questions asked. The only person who knew his secret other than his parents and his best friends.
The pain only increasing by the minute while he waited for the call to be picked up. After three rings the person answered his call, a surprised voice souned in the other line. He only managed to choke out two words conveying everything he's going through right now "It's happening".
He felt his grip loosening on the phone, his ears ringing, the pain so unbearable, he couldn't hear what the other was speaking. His knees gave up, he fell on the thick carpeted floor of his office clutching his stomach.
He didn't know how much time he laid their immobile, drifting in and out of consciousness, the whole room filled with sickening sweet smell of frangepani making it difficult to breath. His entire body covered with sweat.
The last things he saw was him bursting through the door and his concerned eyes before darkness took over him.
He's finally here.
A ray of sunlight hit his face stirring him out of slumber. Flashes of the previous events flitted through his mind making him panic. But it reduced as soon as he registered the calming scents of Clary sage with a hint of lavender perfectly mixed with his own scent of frangepani. His pain reduced to minimum, his head wasn't throbbing anymore. He felt better.
A small smile appeared in his lips as he buried his face deeper in the pillows inhaling the scent that has never failed to calm his nerves in past five years.
He was in his safe heaven, enveloped in the calming, soothing scent. A place where he could be himself without the back dated prejudices and judgements channing him down. He didn't need to put on his cold, arrogant mask he displayed to the outside world. He can be as much spoiled as he wanted to be, nobody will scoff at him. He loved being here. His soul yearned for this place but he couldn't stay here for long.
His escape from reality.
He was pulled out of his musings when delicious smell of Khao Tom wafted through his nose. He opened his eyes slowly to witness the brightest smile directed towards him. It was enough to make him forget his current predicament.
"How are you feeling?" Arthit asked in a low voice coming closer to Kongpob, placing a hand over his forehead.
"Better than before." He replied honestly, with a smile of his own.
Arthit nodded his head then checked his pulse, jotted down some notes in a notepad.
"You must be hungry?"
"Hmmm..yeah.."
Arthit took the bowl of steaming Khao Tom he brought earlier from the bedside table, he extended a spoonful towards Kongpob's mouth after blowing over it for good measure, careful not to burn his tongue.
Kong opened his mouth letting himself being fed with great content like all those times before.
He didn't felt like his blood was boiling or his pride being hurt when he let himself be vulnerable infront of the alpha who was nothing like the alphas he dealt with in daily basis. Instead his omega self was always filled with barely concealed joy whenever the very alpha showered him with his undivided attention and gentle care.
He would never forget the day he got to meet this alpha who changed his views towards the world he lived in, that there is still hope for a better future and always stayed by his side whenever he needed someone, like a unmoving rock.
They didn't speak anything, basking in the comfortable silence. Kong put his all attention to the food he was gobbling down. He was sure it was made by the alpha himself. But there was still lingering worry at the back of his mind. He can't avoid the reality and his duties for long.
"So... I was out for..." He started quite uncertainty. He knew an argument was coming soon.
"5 days" Arthit said in a monotone voice while he handed medicines with a glass of water, not looking at his eyes.
Kongpob took the medicines, contemplating his next words to delay the inevitable. Arthit beat him to it.
"Now that you're okay I'm sure you're eager to know what's going on currently. Em sent some files I think you would like to check. So I'm leaving you to it. Though I would recommend not to over exert your energy" with that Arthit got up and turned to leave.
Without wasting a second Kong grabbed his wrist, making him stop in his tracks.
"I'm sorry.." Kong pleaded "I know you're disappointed...."
"Disappointed?!" Arthit cut him off "I'm worried about you Kong. For how long you're gonna..."
"You know I can't stop. You know everything. Please try to understand..." Kong continued, his voice barely audible, the hold in Arthit's wrist loosening, his head hung low. He doesn't want to be the reason of disappointment for another person.
Sighing, Arthit pulled Kongpob in his embrace, rubbing his back to soothe the omega.
A sniffle escaped Kong's lips as he hugged the alpha closer to him, taking all the comfort the alpha was giving.
They stayed like that basking in warmth radiating from each other, not in a mood to break the hug. But the moment ended when Arthit's phone rang cutting through the comfortable silence.
"I need to go" Arthit whispered still not breaking the hug.
"Umm hmmm" Kong mumbled lessening his hold, taking a step back, looking at the alpha's eyes.
Arthit kissed his forehead with so much affection before he picked up his medical kit, ready leave.
Before he left he turned towards Kongpob, his mouth parting like he wants to say something but doesn't know how to.
Understanding the alpha's dilemma Kong prompted "What is it Oon?"
"I was thinking, I mean Nam was asking if you would like to join us for dinner." Arthit said, quite unsure.
"I would love to" Kongpob beamed in response, making the alpha smile.
"Oh that's great." Arthit smiled "I'll see you at dinner then."
After Arthit left for his hospital rounds, Kong busied himself checking the files Em had sent. He needed to be back at the office tomorrow. He made some important calls with the board members discussing about his disappearance and the upcoming project. He had a simple lunch in his bed surrounded by various papers.
He couldn't track how many hours passed, soon it was time for dinner. A knock at the door made him look up from the file he was currently reading.
Namtan, Arthit's youngest sister, an omega, came in. She looked at the state of the room and sighed. A CEO is never off duty it seems, she thought.
"Mr Suthilluck" She stared in a amused tone "the dinner is ready."
Kongpob smiled at her "I'll be there shortly."
She nodded in acknowledgment and left him to organise his mess.
A/N: The dinner is in next chapter ✌
