Roxannes Pov:

When I was around the age of fifteen I felt out of place, like I wasn't fully myself while being around my peers, family, just anyone. It took me a while to figure out what it was, at least a good few years, I was eighteen years old, when one night it all hit me, I was at work, and I worked at Starbucks a few blocks away from my house. I had a night shift and it was only me and another girl, her name was Demi, I was cleaning tables while she was at the cash register counting up all the money. She was so perfect, I couldn't help but admire her features. She had soft dark brown hair up in a loose bun, her bangs falling perfectly over her face, her hypnotizing hazel eyes that glistened in the light, and that smile, so innocent yet daring. She was something out of this world, my thoughts were interrupted by something that sounded like someone clearing their throat. I looked up and saw Demi looking at me with a smirk playing on her lips, "Is there something on my face?" she asked whilst giggling. I bit my bottom lip nervously and blushed hard. "Sorry I zoned out" I said darting my eyes away from hers. I had just finished cleaning the tables and I was walking towards the back of the café while taking my apron off, I felt Demis eyes on me as I passed her, when I got to the back I got my bag and threw it over my shoulder as I made my way to the front door to go home, Demi stopped me and gave me a piece of paper with her number on it "Text me when you get home!" she smiled and walked off to the back room, I smiled like an idiot as I made my way outside and hurried home, just so I could text her sooner. I was at my front door digging through my bag to find my house keys, my parents locked the door at all times, they always said "It's better to be safe than sorry". I thought it was stupid, but I guess they had a point. I finally found my key and struggled to unlock the door, I stumbled in and instantly took my shoes off and shuffled upstairs to my bedroom and closed the door behind me. I think I may have heard my mom greet me as I was passing the living room but I was too careless to notice, oops. I dropped my bag on the floor and plopped myself on my bed, getting my phone out and typing her number into my phone and saving it. I was about to text her when I froze not knowing what to say.

Roxanne: Uhm, heey. Is this Demi?

Demi: Yes, hi! Is this Roxanne? :p

Roxanne: Yup! So why did you want me to text you?!

Demi: Well, I wanted to get to know you, I think you are a sweet, cute girl. Although you seem very shy ;p

Roxanne: I am not shy!!

Demi: You so are, every time I look at you, all you do is blush and look away. It's the cutest thing ever ;p

Roxanne: Agh, fine. Ok, I am but once we start talking more I'll be the complete opposite :)

Demi: Are you implying that you want to hang out with me? ;)

Roxanne: Maybe I am, is there a problem? ;p

Demi: Quite the opposite, I'd love to hang out with you. How about we hang out tomorrow? I have nothing planned! Does going for coffee sound good? At 1:00 pm?

Roxanne: Sounds fine by me, but I should go, I'm really tired. I will text you when leave my house.

Demi: Awee, ok! Sweet dreams!! Nighty night <3

I didn't bother to text her back, I was to star struck by the fact that she had sent me a heart. Silly I know. With the thought of what tomorrow shall bring me, I fell asleep into a peaceful slumber.

The next morning I woke up by the annoying sound of my alarm clock, I roll over and look at the time reading the clock, 12:30 am it read. Crap. I thought to myself, I threw my blanket off my body and fell out of bed. Literally, FELL out of bed. I groan while gripping onto my headboard of my bed and pull myself up from the floor and head towards my dresser and picked out a black and white flannel and place it on the bed along with a pair of burgundy colored skinny jeans. I undress from my sports bra and boxers and quickly slip on my shirt and pants almost falling over while trying to get my pants over my thighs. I shuffle to my makeup desk and try to fix up my face as nicely and fast as possible. Looking at the time, the clock now reads 12:47am, I do my last touch of eyeliner and jump out of my seat, grab my phone and bolt out of the room, almost tumbling down the stair case to the main entrance. I grab my leather jacket from the coat rack and put it on, placing my phone in my jacket pocket, slipping my black vans on my feet, before walking out of the house and slamming the door shut behind me. I grab my phone out of my pocket and type out a text to Demi then placing it back in my pocket.

Roxanne: Just left the house, on my way right now. See you in 5!

When I'm about halfway there, at an intersection to cross the road I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and instantly smile. I pull my phone out and unlock the screen to read the text.

Demi: Great! I'm already here, see you then Roxanne:)

I get to the coffee shop and I can see Demi in the window playing on her phone with a really concentrated look on her face. I bet anything she was playing some silly game. I pull the door open making the bell sound and causing Demi to shoot her head up, when she saw it was me she had the cutest grin on her face. I walk up to her taking my jacket off and placing it on the back of the chair, as well as my purse. "Sorry if I kept you waiting, I kinda woke up late" I said nervously while taking a seat. She looked at me and giggled then replied. "Oh don't worry about it, I was playing Candy Crush anyway" She smiled widely. I knew It. "Well, shall we get coffee?" I asked. "Ahh, yes! We shall" Demi replied while getting up and walking over to the cashier. "What do you want?" She turned and looked at me. I was about to protest and tell her that she didn't have to pay for me, but I knew just by the look that she gave me that she was going to insist, so I gave up before I tried. "Uhm, a White Chocolate Mocha?" I smiled at her. She smiled back at me before turning to the lady behind the counter, "Two White Chocolate Mochas, please?" She asked the cashier lady and handed her a ten dollar bill, getting a dollar back and putting in into her wallet while walking to the other side of the counter waiting for our drinks. "So, are you new in town?" She asked looking up at me. I fiddle with my fingers before answering, "Yes, I am. I moved here with my mom a month ago hoping to find out if my future career would be easier to find out here" I sighed. Just as Demi was about to reply one of the employees cut her off, "Here are your drinks, enjoy ladies!" She said. We grabbed our drinks and headed back to our table, sat down, and began talking for over an hour. I check my phone for the time and see that it's nearly 2:30 in the afternoon. I look up at Demi with a frown on my face, she just giggles at me. "Do you have to go now?" She asks, with a sad tone. "Yes, I have a friend coming over for guitar lessons!" I said while getting up and putting my jacket on. "You play guitar?" She seemed surprised. "Yup, and I sing! Come over sometime I'll sing to you" I wink at her. "I'd love to! Why don't I walk you home?" She asks standing up.
"If you can catch up" I say walking towards to door looking over my shoulder and smirking at her. When we got to my house, we walked up my front door and stood there in silence for about a minute, until Demi looked up at me and ran her fingers through her hair. She smiled sweetly, "Well I guess I better get going" She said moving closer to me so our bodies were about 30 centimeters apart from each other. I gulped "U-um, yeah! And I b-better get inside and tune my guitar, and y-yeah." I stuttered trying to clear my throat. She slightly laughed at me and took ahold of my hands, intertwining our fingers together, the spaces between our fingers fitting together, like pieces to a puzzle. I looked up at her and saw a smirk growing on her perfectly sculpted face as she pulled me closer, placing her hands in my waist and closed the space between us making our lips meet for the first time, her soft, supple lips melting onto mine, leaving butterflies fluttering in my stomach. We pulled away at the same time and I slowly opened my eyes, trying to comprehend what had just happened. I looked at her in amazement, she pulled me in for a quick hug then pulled away placing her hand on my cheek, "Bye Roxanne" She smiled and turned to walk down the driveway, and onto the sidewalk, heading the opposite direction of me.
I placed my hands in my pockets as I watched her walk away. I couldn't help but smile, this girl was perfect in every way possible, and that kiss was all I was going to be thinking about.

My thoughts were interrupted by my phone vibrating against my hand in my pocket, I slightly jumped because it surprised me. I pull out my phone and look down at the screen 'New Message from Demi', was what it said. I quickly typed in my password and unlocked my phone reading the text.

Demi: Staring isn't nice Roxanne ;)

I giggled, shaking my head and stuffed my phone back in my pocket while walking into my house and shutting the door behind me. I kicked my shoes off and took my jacket off as I made my way up the stairs to my bedroom, I opened my bedroom door and dropped my jacket on the floor and shuffled towards my bed. I took a deep breath and sighed as I plopped onto my bed sinking back into my thoughts.

Maybe coming to New York is going to have a good outcome after all. Something good will come out of this, and right now, that something is Demi. She is a good start to my new life, nothing can go wrong from here. This Demi girl is the start of something new.
