Why You Don't Mess With My Friends

I managed to make it to the locker room unnoticed and I saw Brock and Lucy coming out, obviously catching up with each other. Then I saw Lucy peck him on the cheek. Ha, he finally found somebody. Good for him, now all Jennies and Joys don't need to worry about him anymore. Well, I still do, he even saw me,

"Ah, Ash there you are!" He exclaimed as he hailed me over, "Good luck against Drew,"

"Thanks, Brock," I replied calmly, "And its good to see you again Lucy, I take it you finally managed to act on your feelings after our last meeting when I still went by Red?"

"Good to see you too, Ash," She replied, "And yes, took a few years but I knew things would work. By the way, Red Ketchum? Really? That's not exactly the best name to take for disguising yourself, you know?"

"Yeah I realized that early in the tournament, but I thought of my father, so I thought why not. Gave me something to tie back to any sort of family during what I like to call 'The Dark Days' of mine."

"Understandable, and what's with the Giratina getup?" She asked, "I like it but just, why?"

"Well, I've had a few run ins with the pokemon in my time," I simply replied, "Well, its been nice to talk to you again, Lucy. You and the other brains should join us in the Elite Box, we have seats reserved for you guys you know,"

"Oh, thanks," Lucy replied, "I was the only one participating in the tournament, everybody else is just watching, I'll let them know once I'm finished with Brock,"

"Which won't be for a while," I laughed as I headed to the field, leaving both of them blushing. I then looked at my trainer belt, having my Pokemon all set and ready to go, "No mercy," I said to myself coldly as I walked onto the field, pulling my hood up as I went.

"Good evening one and all!" The announcer blared over the arena, "Welcome to the match between Drew Hayden! The Prince of Hoenn!" Typical, because he is May's 'Boyfriend' he apparently gets that title, "and The Phantom of Alola! Champion Ash Ketchum! Contestants! Make your way out to the field!" Drew came out first, gaining roars of applause because of his previous reputation, and then when I came out, the stadium went nuts. That's more like it, I could see the look of jealousy when the cheers all came my way on his face. I knew all he cared about was the fame,

"Trainers!"  The referee exclaimed, "Release your first pokemon!"

(A/N- I don't remember Drew's party from the anime except Roselia, which in this story has evolved into Roserade. I'm just gonna come up with three different grass types)

"Tropius! Let's go!" I barely heard Drew shout as a Tropius emerged from the pokeball he threw out. I knew my first Pokemon right away, and I can't wait to acclimate him to my battling style,

"Tyranitar! I choose you!" I shouted as Tyranitar emerged from his Pokeball. It emerged in dramatic fashion too, it was curled up in the air and when he came out, landed, the gave a mighty roar that shook the entire stadium. What the heck was he doing since I last saw him? He's already on par with most, if not all of my pokemon. If I can get him acclimated to my style he could very well become one of my Alpha Pokemon.

Drew's reaction to the Tyranitar seemed like everybody elses, shock for a moment then coming to his senses to battle. Tropius led off with a Leaf Storm, but I noticed it was poorly trained, so even though the attack was super effective, it hardly did a thing,

"Pathetic, Drew. . ." I said to myself, "Tyranitar, surprise me. Show me what moves you know," I smirked and basically let Tyranitar battle on his own. Holy crap, it was one of the most one sided affairs I have ever seen. Tyranitar led off with a Rock Slide attack to ground Tropius, since Tropius is part flying type, the rocks prevented it from lifting off. It fired an Energy Ball in an attempt to keep the charging Tyranitar away but it was sidestepped easily. It then got in close enough to land a Fire Fang attack, knocking the Tropius out almost instantly,

"Well done, Tyranitar," I said coldly while staring at Drew, with daggers in my glare, "You'll fit right in." I then returned my new Tyranitar, very pleased with how he performed, and then, I took the liberty of sending out my Seismitoad. I knew this would be a risky move because of the water-ground typing, but I had faith that Seismitoad could pull this off.

Drew hurled a new pokeball in the air and out popped a Cacnea,

"You gotta be kidding me," I sighed and shrugged, "It's like he's throwing the battle."

Cacnea launched a Pin Missile at Seismitoad, landing a hit but hardly doing anything. I think he forgot that Pin Missile is a bug type attack, not a grass type attack,

"Seismitoad," I sighed and facepalmed, "Just use Ice Punch and end this already." He did just that and landed a hit right on Cacnea's head. Easiest win ever. A shame really, I was looking forward to using Seismitoad more.

The next Pokemon Drew sent out was a Leavanny. Now this was more like it. I recalled Seismitoad and then sent out my next Pokemon. One of my seasoned veterans,

"Let's rock, Torterra!" I shouted as I sent my continent pokemon out. Drew led off with a Bug Bite attack which can deal major damage if I'm not careful. Luckily Torterra is a freaking tank and was able to shrug that one off, its hard for him to dodge considering how massive he is. Torterra's bigger than most of his species,

"Start of with a Leaf Storm, show them what you're made of," I said flatly. I was getting bored, I could see after every move Drew made, he'd gloat to the audience. I wanted this to end, and I know Blaziken is getting ready to destroy his pesky Roserade that's waiting for me. Drew tried a Leaf Storm of his own but Torterra's swept it away,

"Now, let's bring the house down with Earthquake!" I shouted as Torterra let out a mighty roar as he reared up on his hind legs before coming crashing down and his legs jamming completely into the ground due to the force of the impact. Needless to say, the stadium shook, causing all four buildings to rock. What surprised me was the volcanoes that spewed out from the ground when Torterra launched Earthquake. What I realized was that he didn't use Earthquake, he used Earth Power instead. You're never too old to learn something new,

"Wow, Torterra," I congratulated, "Congrats on the new move, that was most impressive."

Leavanny got struck by the lava that was spewing from the volcones, causing it severe pain. Since it was part bug type, the normal grass resistance to ground didn't apply. When the shaking stopped Leavanny could hardly move, that's when I took my shot,

"End this with Stone Edge!" I shouted as Torterra sent the chunks of rock flying through the air and burying Leavanny. Not a pleasant way to go out in a battle.

Drew recalled Leavanny and finally sent out the main prize. Roserade. I recalled Torterra and then I took the chance to give a little speech while the crowd was murmuring,

"Drew, I used to have so much respect for you. I really did," I started off, "But now I see you for the slime you are. Sure, I may have made a mistake for running away from my friends, but that doesn't excuse what you did to May. You used her, and once you were going to be done with her, you were going to throw her out like the trash. All in a quest to become the best coordinator. Well coordinators don't belong on the battlefield, and now a very special guest appearance on my team will show you out. Blaziken! Do this for May!"

I couldn't hear Drew's response as the cheers erupted as Blaziken appeared out of his pokeball. The mere sight of Drew caused it to go crazy, the flames were burning hotter than ever on its wrists. Something tells me Blaziken saw some horrible things,

"Good to see you too, Blaziken," I said as he stared down his enemy, "Stick with me for this one battle and we'll get you back to May in no time! Now! Start of guns blazing! Blaze Kick!" Drew had Roserade put up a Razor Leaf wall to protect Roserade, but Blaziken's attack ripped right through it, for a Pokemon trained in contests instead of battles, Blaziken is very well trained. Must be emotional trauma,

"Now that you're close, use Flamethrower!" I shouted as it blasted Roserade with a close range flamethrower, "Don't give them any time to recover! Use Close Combat!" Blaziken didn't hesitate to unleash its fury. Five years of watching your trainer suffer? If I was in Blaziken's spot, I'd call this holding back. Needless to say, Roserade stood no chance. Drew was completely clueless in this battle, he had no idea what a real trainer is like.

Once Blaziken's wrath was thoroughly unleashed, I recalled Blaziken,

"If you think May still wants you, think again," I scolded, "I don't think I can restrain Blaziken much longer, so if you want what's good for you, leave my friend alone."
