dialogue:

kingsley sat at her desk in her bedroom staring at her math worksheet. As if he harder she started, the numbers would suddenly change and she'd understand how to solve it. Her phone rang, disturbing her useless gaze. she grabbed her phone that was warm from using it to search answers to her math problems. she took a deep breath but then froze once seeing the name.

she started at her phone before swiping her painted thumb and holding the phone to her ear.

"hello?" she spoke, sounding softer than she wanted.

"hey, kingsley. it's me!" kingsley didn't want to admit it, but she couldn't help feel a wave of comfort when she heard vinnie's warm voice.

"hey, vinnie." kingsley said, maintaining her soft voice.

"hey." he said again. "listen, kings," kingsey felt a chill run down her back when she heard her nickname. "we need to talk."

"i agree." kingsley responded. "so talk."

"look, i miss you." vinnie said. "i messed up. and i get it. i get why you would be mad at me." he paused. he probably expected kingsley to say something, but instead, she stayed quiet. when vinnie realized she wasn't gonna say anything, he continued. "i should've listened to you. i'm sorry." kingsley could almost hear the desperation in his voice. "and kings, i need you to know that i didn't do anything with her. she put my arm around her, and that's my fault too so i'm not trying to blame her for everything, but i swear on everything that i didn't do anything with her. i'm sorry. i was being a dick. i am a dick." he ranted. he stoped talking.

kingsley exhaled. "you're not a dick, vinnie. thank you." she mentally slapped herself. thank you? "i missed you, too." kingsley smiled slightly when she heard vinnie sigh in relief as if he had been holding his breath this whole time. "thanks for apologizing."

"thank you for picking up." vinnie said quickly causing kingsley to laugh. "so are we good?" vinnie asked.

"on one condition,"

"i already blocked effiel on literally everything." vinnie interrupted.

"that isn't what i was gonna say." kingsley said. "look, vinnie. i went to go get coffee with chris the other day and he was really nice."

"okay?" vinnie said not following.

"he apologized for what he said and i'm his friend now. and i wanna keep being his friend. even if we're dating."

"okay." vinnie said after a pause. "that's fair."

"and you can trust me, vinnie."

"i know."

"good." kingsley smiled.

"so, can i please take you to dinner?" vinnie asked.

"pick me up at seven?"

"i'll see you at seven." vinnie smiled.

"see you then. bye, vincent."

"hey, kingsley!" vinnie said quickly.
