To the one who held my heart by the throat,
A new chapter begins
And I release your hand
I let you go, for real this time
You don't consume my thoughts
You're gone
And that's okay
And I'm okay, for the first timeAnd the page turns
Onto the next
Without you
But with me in control now
And this is what I need
Perhaps this is what we both need
No longer tethered
Two separate stories
Diverging, finallyThe page turns
My smile is back
The cold wind doesn't mean loss this time
It's the end of this chapter
Everything withers away
Us included
But I've grown back
And I let goAnd if autumn means falling away from you
Then I've hit the ground already
And I've healed
So I look up at the sky
And smile
And walk away
Onto the next chapterNot the end
But the start of a new story
