Chapter 4: Work

Y/N's pov

I finally arrived at the store, I pulled out my keys and put on my mask before getting out of the car and walking into the store. I walked over to the bed section and got extra blankets and extra pillows. As I paid for my items I noticed how the store was about to close. I sighed quietly before paying with the only cash I had. I then grabbed my things that were placed into bags and left the store. I placed the bags on the seat next to me as I got into the driver's seat, then drove home. On the way home I was thinking to myself 'could I even trust these men? What if they were lying to me? But they were damn serious too.'

I was thinking too much "Ugh forget it.." I mumbled quietly to myself "if they kill me...then that's it" I didn't really seem to care but I do. I pulled up to my house and grabbed the bags before getting out and headed to the door. I opened the door and my dog came running over, the men's attention also came to me "I got the pillows and blankets!" I chirped and closed the door behind me, locking it "would you guys like to sleep in the guest room or?" I asked "we can sleep out here, it's fine" Engineer smiled and I nodded, placing my bags on the couch next to Scout. I went over to the closet and pulled out the pillows and blankets then handed them to each of the men. As soon as everyone got a pillow and blanket I wondered "I'm missing something....what is it?" I muttered.

Just then, I remembered "the mattress!" I exclaimed "uh- why do we need mattresses?" Asked the Boston "well would you rather have your backs hurting in the morning?" I joked then went over to my closet again to pull out nine mattresses "I have too much bed gear" I mumbled to myself, not knowing that the men heard it and chuckled. I gave each one of them their own mattress "uh, set up how ever you want it" I said and they nodded "well, I'll see you guys in the morning. C'mon (D/n)" I walked to my my room with my doggo following me. I closed my bedroom door and walked over to my bed and sat down "I'm not tired yet." I sighed

My dog then jumped onto my bed and sat down on my lap, looking in my eyes begging to be pet. I giggled before starting to pet him, thinking to myself that I could maybe trust these men. I mean...they aren't hurting me, yet. I shook my head and grabbed (D/n) then placed him in his little bed while I got changed in my comfortable clothes, Then turned off the light and went to bed where I layed down and fell asleep.

2nd person pov

While you fell asleep the mercenaries outside your room were not knowing what to do after they got their own place to sleep. Some mercenaries who were Scout, Sniper, and Engineer decided to sleep on the couch. The nine mercenaries chatted for a bit before going to bed. While they talked, Scout noticed the picture frames and posters around the living room, he got up and looked at the nearest poster and gasped, nearly shouting 'what the fuck?' The other eight men seemed to notice that Scout was distracted. They went up behind him before their eyes widened, it was a poster of Scout. Spy looked around and he nearly fell but his jaw dropped instead when he saw his poster, the others noticed theirs as well. Whoever painted/drew the art was very talented. After a while of getting confused they remembered that this was the future so they shrugged and went to bed.

The Next Day

You woke up and got dressed in your uniform and went out into the living room to where you found the men still asleep. Smiling, you went to the kitchen to start cooking some breakfast for you all. Soldier was the first to wake up, Engineer was second, he helped you make breakfast, Then Sniper and Heavy woke up, Then Spy, Medic, Demo, Pyro, and lastly was Scout "Hopefully you guys had an okay sleep" you said while giving the men each a plate of food "eet ees quite alright Y/n" Spy said, you nodded and sat down next to Pyro while eating. After breakfast, Engineer offered to wash the dishes while you get ready for the day and you thanked him while getting your stuff ready.

You did your hair, a little bit of makeup, and put on some perfume, which you decided not to put so much on but only enough for a little scent. You walked out of your room ready for work "So ya going ta work?" Scout asked eyeing you up and down "mhm, you guys wanna come?" You said with a little giggle. The men thought for a bit before nodding "well- hope there is enough room in my car"

After some moments of trying to figure things out, you managed to get everyone to fit in- it wasn't too squished but squished enough for them to breathe. "Uh Spy, Pyro? I think you'd want to take those masks off" you looked at them and they seemed to hesitate for a little "we don't wanna scare anyone-" ofcourse, it was the future, things are different. Both Spy and Pyro took off their masks, Pyro was the cute one and Spy was the handsome one, well why wouldn't he be? You blushed and hid your face while getting into the car and staring the engine.

Once you guys arrived you put on a mask and got nine more out of a bag "You guys will need these" you handed the masks to them "Why do we?" Asked Heavy "well-" you sighed before continuing "I'll tell you guys during my break" they nodded and put on their masks "uh- one more thing" you paused them "Try making your outfits a bit more casual so people don't stare at you" and they did as you said, removing all their gear and wearing their casual clothes like how they would on most ceasefire days.

"Alright, let's go!" You got out with the men- clothes stuffed in your car but that was ignored and you all walked into the coffee shop "Y/n, who are they?" Your boss asked, pointing to the men behind you "uh- erm, my high school friends" you said innocently "oh okay, can you please serve them? I have a new servant to show the place to at the moment" she said pointing to a girl who was dressed in the same uniform, she had red/orange hair, a lot of makeup, green eyes, and some freckles. You smiled and waved at her while she boringly waved back.

Grabbing some menus, you walked the men to a table "you don't have to eat, you could just get a drink" you smiled and they nodded ordering their drinks, except for Scout who asked for some fried chicken. You nodded and got them their orders while serving other customers.
