Jin gritted his teeth, looking up at his crying friend as his other, lying beneath him, faded slowly and slowly away. He pressed onto the wound tighter and shouted out so guttural, it seemed to shake everyone from their sudden sense of shock. "Jimin! Hurry up!"

The familiar, and reassuring, footsteps returned as Jimin almost seemed to soar back into the room. As soon as Jin spotted the boy, he waved him over urgently with a more relaxed look on his face.

The next few moments were a blur, so horrific and distressing that I couldn't even gain the courage to repeat the events. The screams would haunt me forever.

By the time Jin finished his ministrations, he laughed in happiness as he admired his handy work, Taehyung's chest mostly healed. That moment of split happiness didn't last long, however, as the boy toppled over his own knees, his head hitting the wood door with a piercing crack.

Namjoon launched forwards, capturing Jin's exhausted body into his arms as the boy closed his eyes.

"Shit, he's so weak," the boy scowled, feeling Jin's faint pulse beneath his fingers. "We need to get him and Taehyung up to the infirmary asap."

He shot a requesting look at Hoseok but the boy was way too out of it, the traumatic memories, flashing in and out of his glazed eyes as he hugged his knees to his chest like a vulnerable child. Instead, Jungkook stepped forwards, gently sliding his arms under the boy's legs and lifting his up quickly and efficiently. There was a grumble of protest from the drowsy Taehyung but he didn't seem to be in utter pain anymore which was a relief to everyone in the room.

As Namjoon left the room, I could see him softly wiping Jin's fringe away from his sweat slicked face before leaning down and giving him a chaste kiss on the forehead. I averted my eyes; this was a private moment.

With the two injured boys now cared for, the whole room seemed to take a shaky breath of relief. Even Hoseok had appeared to cheer up a little bit, his eyes now set with what looked like a fiery anger.

"What the fuck just happened?" Yoongi stammered, looking from person to person as though expecting us to have an answer. In reality, there was only one person in the room with a response to his question.

"It was MediHeal, they've found us," Hoseok spat through gritted teeth as his nails created indents in the wood when he clenched his knuckles. "They're in the woods."

"What?" Yoongi shouted, running to the nearby window and ripping open the curtains with ferocity. His eyes flickered left and right as he analysed his surroundings. I expected him to tell us that there was a huge ambush heading our way; I didn't expect him to tell us that he couldn't see a thing. "There's no one there."

"That doesn't make sense Yoongi," Jimin stated, hands still stained with Taehyung's blood as he pulled on the blind to also get a glimpse at the looming forest ahead. When he paused in surprise, I realised something was horribly wrong.

Hoseok scoffed menacingly, something so unusual from the normally gleeful boy. "They're out there. Hundreds of them. Camping and waiting for us, so that they can pick us off one by one."

"That doesn't make sense Hoseok hyung," Jimin pointed out, his eyebrows knitted. "Why would they even shoot Taehyung in the first place? I thought they wanted us to come back to the lab."

"They've got a secret agenda," Namjoon spoke, returning into the room with Jungkook following only a couple of steps behind. "We have to be extremely careful; especially with Jin and Taehyung being out of action. I suggest we send some spies to scan the area and get some inside intel. They're obviously waiting for some motive to attack."

"I'm coming," Jungkook said, no hesitation in his voice as he stepped forward, his lips pressed firmly into a thin line. It was scary to see him like this and, for a second, his aura reminded me of the boy I'd met back in the laboratory. The defensive, scared boy who trusted no one.

"Me too." I was relatively surprised to see Yoongi nominate himself but, I suppose it did make sense. He wanted revenge for the pain of his friend, any normal human would.

"So that's sorted. Me, Jungkook and Yoongi will go and see what we're handling with. Hoseok, Jimin, Hayeon, your job is to protect the house." We all nodded dutifully as if we were soldiers about to throw our lives away in battle for the sake of our country.

The others wasted no time, reaching out and wrapping their figures with jackets and gloves in preparation. I could already see Yoongi clenching and stretching his knuckles as though he expected to summon some fire in the foreseeable future,

"Be careful," I whispered to Jungkook, my lips brushing the shell of his ear. He didn't reply, but sighed shakily. Leaning down, he placed a hesitant kiss on my lips before stepping backwards, an unknown look on his face that I wasn't accustomed to. With one last wave, he turned and walked out the door. As he left, my vision couldn't help but focus onto his left leg, shaking as he hobbled along. I hadn't seen that nervous habit in a long time. My heart broke at the mere sight of it.

The last person to exit was Namjoon and I couldn't help but hear his parting conversation with Hoseok.

"You protect them, okay? They need you, Jin needs you. Keep him safe."

Hoseok nodded, the overwhelming pressure building onto his shoulders.

After all, he'd already failed them once.
