Epilogue

I loved those calm evenings with the people I cherished most. It made up for all the bad things we'd had to go through.

„They're having so much fun today," I said absent-mindedly. „Addie really loves being the centre of attention."

„Yea, I wonder who she got that from," Remus said, glancing over to me and Sirius with a grin.

„I know, she really takes after me," my husband said. „But honestly, I'm not sorry. She is adorable."

„I know you're not," I remarked. „In fact, you're pretty much spoiling her with attention."

Sirius just smiled and I felt the genuine happiness radiating from him. He took my hand and kissed it and I felt that familiar warm feeling spread out in my body.

This was the happiest I had ever been.

Later that evening, when everyone had left, Sirius helped me clean the garden and then the kitchen. The perk of being able to practice magic was that this was a fast process. I still remembered birthday parties with my muggle family way back in the day and the whole cleaning took forever. Now, despite the party, we managed to have a calm night. Addie had asked if we'd watch a movie with her – she was fascinated with the muggle tv we had that played all her favorite films. So we had all snuggled up on the couch together.

Adhara obviously fell asleep midway through the movie and eventually, I watched as Sirius carried her upstairs to put her to bed. As always, Nyx was curled up in the armchair close to her bed, sound asleep, only blinking at us for a second. Sirius kissed Addie's forehead goodnight and then we quietly exited the room. In the hallway, he grinned at me.

„I love her so much," he said. „And I love you so much."

„I love you too," I said, taking his hand. „We should go to sleep as well. Today was exhausting."

„Yes, it was. You made the day very special for her," Sirius said. „You're the best mother I could ever imagine, my love."

„You did as well," I said. „And you are the best dad. The coolest, for sure, especially in that leather jacket."

Sirius chuckled and we went downstairs to make the house ready for the night.

We had both often been worried about parenthood with both of our sets of parents not having been good role models. It was working out very well, though, especially Sirius showered us both with love and I knew he would even more once our son was born.

A little later we were both ready for bed and snuggled under the warm blankets. I really was tired but I was also glad about the alone time Sirius. He had really improved since the end of the war, mentally as well as physically. That had also immensely helped our relationship to become even stronger than before.

„I'm thinking," I said as I was lying in his arms.

„Huh?"

„About the name for our baby boy."

„And what are you thinking?"

„Well, we'd have to find a matching first name to Adhara or one after another star, but maybe his second name could be Regulus?"

Sirius raised his brows. „Really?"

„I thought that would be a nice way to remember him. I know it's difficult for you, but he was your little brother after all."

„I think it wouldn't be a terrible idea," Sirius said after some pondering. „We did name Adhara after your mother and Regulus is the only one in my family I would even consider for that."

„There is time to decide, so you can think about it," I mumbled.

„Thank you," Sirius said, then.

I lifted my head up and looked into his eyes. „What for?"

„Everything. For being the best wife in the world, for giving me Adhara, for saving my life on any given occasion, for loving me and accepting me and my quirks. I'm just so lucky to have you."

I smiled and kissed him, gently cradling his face. „You know you give me so much as well, Sirius. I'm just as lucky. Not everyone gets to find and keep their soulmate."

He nodded and pulled me closer again. I closed my eyes, took in his warmth, his familiar smell and the way our bodies perfectly fit together. If every day of my life ended here, feeling loved and cherished, our babies sleeping close by, and me falling asleep to the sound of Sirius's heartbeat, I had the most blissful live I could imagine.
