This September, we bring you Thin Luck, by Cori Lynn Arnold.

Robyn Hughes used to be a very successful investigative journalist who had won an Emmy for an investigative story into a school bus driver who resulted in an accident that left three children in the hospital. Ironically, two years later, Robyn was sentenced to five years in prison for mowing down a pedestrian.

Robyn cuts herself a deal with the state prosecutor after snitching on her cellmate. She's released from prison early after spending two years of her sentence and wants nothing more than to reacquaint herself with her infant son, Kyle, who was born behind bars and handed down to her husband, Nick. However, Nick never comes to pick her up, and by the time she's able to get home, he and Kyle are both gone.

With nobody willing to trust her, and no resources to support her, Robyn improvises by falling back on her old investigative journalist's skills and relies on her wit to track down Nick across the country and reunites with her son.

Skipping on her parole, Robyn is, once more, a wanted fugitive. And with her luck being a very thin wire, Robyn is in over her head when she finds herself the center of many unfortunate and dangerous situations throughout her journey.

When Detective Turner is assigned to track Robyn down, he must put together the pieces and bring her in ... but he discovers something else in her past which might change how things work out for everyone involved.

The pace of this gripping thriller is electrifying; I couldn't help but be drawn into Robyn's world and her story. The descriptions and the little details in each chapter will put you right in the scene where your heartbeats will synch with Robyn's as she deals with whatever is thrown her way.

The majority of the story is told in the first-person from Robyn's point of view; however, the author switches to third-person during the chapters with Detective Turner in which we get a glimpse of how Robyn's actions are affecting the real world. And throughout the story, you can't help but wonder if Robyn was a victim of circumstances or the architect of her own misfortune...

All in all, Thin Luck was a well-crafted, thoughtful, and compelling suspense tale where all the judgment was up to the reader's own value system.
