Jeff Resnick was a laid-off insurance investigator whose luck was about to change; he had won some money after winning a game of pool at a local bar in New York and was about to start at a brand new job in the morning. But, little did he know that his span of good luck was going to be very short-lived. As on his way home, Jeff crossed paths with some ruthless thugs who almost beat him to death and stole his wallet.

And worse still, while he laid for days in a hospital bed with a broken arm, a fractured skull, and a bruised brain, Jeff's home got ransacked and robbed of all his valuable possessions.
Still unemployed and trying to recover from his injuries, Jeff reluctantly agreed to move in with his estranged stepbrother, Dr. Richard Alpert, and his girlfriend, Brenda.
Back at their home in Buffalo, Richard and Brenda started to notice that Jeff was different and that on multiple occasions, he came to know about things he wasn't supposed to have any idea about.

Jeff himself knew that something was different about him as he kept having visions and nightmares about a deer being slaughtered and left hanging in a garage to bleed; he also started sensing things that others couldn't. Everybody thought it was due to his traumatized mind until Brenda read about a local homicide in the daily newspaper and realized that Jeff's visions were not about an actual murder of a deer, but of a real person. Eventually, everyone in the house started to believe in the idea that Jeff was psychic.
Jeff was determined to solve the gruesome murder that plagued his visions and get to the bottom of the mystery. He started chasing clue after clue with the help of Richard in order to find the killer at all costs and bring that person to justice. And along the way, a tentative bond started to form between the two very different half-brothers.
Murder on The Mind has a great storyline with an intriguing paranormal twist. And not only the mystery is interesting, but the author also did a great job in the development of her characters and the relationship between them. All in all, it's a very enjoyable and rewarding read.
