Fuck.
"It's just that I didn't expect people to make it a big deal. I just came up with an excuse to divert their attention."
"Yeah, we talked about this." He nods, they already had this conversation even way back in the hospital.
They both paused for a minute, thinking of what they should do next. He badly needed this silence because he needs to think this through. It was nice to hear the buzz of everyone else with them here in the restaurant.
The rumors already started that they are indeed together. First off, it's not even a rumor because it was Tin who was the one who shared that news. Of course, they really are not dating but it was to justify what happened. This whole situation shouldn't be this complicated but damn it.
Argh! This was all his fault!
"It's just for my mom." Tin finally breaks their silence again. "We don't have to really date—"
"You don't want to date me?"
Both of them were silent again for what he said. Damn his mouth!
He looks away and clears his throat. "I mean..."
It's not like this Alpha is a bad choice for a person to date. In fact, even without knowing this Alpha, he already got the impression that he is a great Alpha himself. His point is just that he is slightly offended that this very man sounded like he doesn't need to actually date someone like him.
Why is he damn overanalyzing things?
"I-I mean..."
"Do you want to date me then, Ai'Pete?"
Was it possible for his heart to skip a beat like what just literally happened? "Ai" is something you address someone who is close to you and when used carelessly, it could sound rude because it can be a way to address someone you hate. But the way this cunning man used it...
"I thought you didn't need to actually date me?"
Tin laughs and it sounded so happy. He looks at him straight to his eyes. "I was wrong to say that. Please, date me. For real."

Forth knows it was rude for him to let out a sigh in front of their food, but he couldn't stop himself from doing so. He did and taps the table top to get Pete's attention back. The young Alpha has been staring at nothingness for a while now.
That seemed to get Pete's attention, but when he looked at him, he saw loneliness. This is the first time this young Alpha has shown him such strong emotion.
"What did you really want for your life, Ai'Forth? Did you really want to be an engineer?"
Now, that took him aback. "O-Of course?"
Pete chuckles and shakes his head. "You're not even sure with your own answer!"
That made him smile, at least he made this man chuckle. "I mean, of course. You just caught me by surprise with your question. Do you want me to tell you more about it?"
"Yes. If you want."
Tonight is another dinner date for them. Normally, they will only talk about each other's business. Him telling things about what happened in the office, and Pete telling what happened during his shoots or any other scheduled commitments.
Being an engineer is something he didn't think through. It's not that he didn't want to become an engineer, it's just something that he recklessly chose for himself. Of course, his family wanted him to take any business-related courses, and that's exactly why he took engineering. He wanted to rebel and taking up an engineering course was the first choice that popped up.
He received a lot of scolding but, needless to say, he grew accustomed with his course's environment and he grew to love it for himself. For once, he was doing something he entirely chose for himself.
It didn't matter at all because he had his mission to fulfill—that was all history now.
He smiles, but he himself can taste its bitterness. "College was something bad and good for me, but at least I got to do something I enjoyed."
Talking about college makes him feel sick to the core—college days reminds him of Beam.
He had to change the topic because it isn't good for him to channel his anger out of nowhere. He doesn't want to ruin this night... too late because he can see that Pete has already caught on with his thoughts.
The young Alpha finishes his wine. "You love him and it both makes us sick."
He couldn't help but to chuckle to that sentiment. "We're just the same, and you can't tell me otherwise."
It's been almost a year now and yet even if he says to himself to move on, he can't. He just can't.
He is supposed to be better by now, but even the smallest of talks about anything that would remind him of Beam makes his blood boil. He's mad for everything, especially to himself. He swears to the heavens above, he is not in the right to be anywhere mad at Beam but he is. He's mad at him, too, as much as he is mad to himself.
It fucking crushes his sanity whenever he thinks the last moment he had with Beam.
The waitress came, breaking his line of thoughts for the bill she had for them. Pete usually doesn't like him paying for everything but both of them knew it wasn't for negotiation for today. He already lost his mood and it's like Pete wanted exactly that.
This young Alpha wanted him to join the loneliness he has.
Just right before they leave, a commotion happened right in front of them. An Omega collapses—he's in his Heat.
Before he could think of anything else, Pete pulled him away, literally dragging him out of the situation. They were both catching their breaths when they reached the parking lot.
"You are not going to find your Fated partner anytime soon!"
He couldn't stop himself from laughing. "You're worried about that?"
Pete punches his arm, looking flushed. "Of course, I am, Forth! Those Omegas are naturally born snakes and it's in their nature to swallow Alphas whole and trap them to themselves forever!"
He even had to wipe his tears of joy. "Oh, gods above, you do know it doesn't work that way, right?"
"I don't care!" The young Alpha, grabs him by the lapels of his suit. "The wedding is happening and I won't let any Omega take you away. This wedding will happen, I tell you!"
He can see how frustrated Pete is and all he can do is smile. This is the first time this man has ever borne his deepest worry, his deepest fear—the fear of not being able to do something in a situation where only nature can play them dirty.
"It will."
Those are the only words left for him to say.
