"Oh, why don't you just date, you two! You look like a great couple together and I would even postpone my death just to see you get together!"

Beam laughs at his patient and laughs harder when he sees Tin wiggling his eyebrows in agreement. He shakes his head and takes off his stethoscope. "You're fine, grandma. Just don't forget to take your meds again and please listen to your nurse."

Having people telling him that he and Tin should be together or that they should go on a date is nothing special now, especially when they already got to the point where they used to receive such questions whether they are dating or not. People should really normalize seeing two people in a platonic relationship, but they do not blame them for thinking that way. Sometimes they really do look like a couple.

The older woman holds his hand. "I'm telling you, doc, I will do my best to live if I get to see you happy."

"Please do that by listening well to me and your nurse, okay? Plus, we're really happy. Doc Tin is happy because he gained me as his second mother. I'm sure you know how hard it is to raise a childlike full-grown adult!"

"Hey! Hey! That's trading of top secrets, Doc Beam! Don't tell them!" Tin protests.

He just laughs and shakes his head again. He reminded the older woman's in-home nurse about the check-up's result. They bid their goodbyes and just like that, it is their lunch break again.

When Tin was planning to open his clinic, it was supposed to be his own space where he can meet his clients as a psychologist. Then he decided to make it a half-half clinic where the other side belongs to him now as a general physician. He does not have many patients yet, but their fliers helped in informing possible clients.

He misses his hospital environment—the kids they meet in the pediatric section, the rounds he does, just the people they meet on a daily basis—but he knows it was also the best choice to leave. He will come back soon, but he knows that it would take a really long time. Plus, even his co-doctors and best friends are not there too. Last time he talked to Wayo, which was just yesterday, they were doing some island hopping somewhere in the Philippines. He and Phana are planning to take the whole year off because they have been wanting to have a baby. As of Ming and Kit, those two are nowhere to be found; but he just talked to Kit literally before his grandma patient and all is well with them. That is the most important thing for him—as long as his friends are safe, then he is at ease.

For the almost a year that passed, a lot has happened but he is glad that he is still part of his friend's life. He is updated all the time and he cannot thank them for always making time to tell him things. He does the same and it is like they are not even far away from each other.

After Tin was done talking to their nurses, he went and sat down on his patient's seat. "So, where are we going to eat, doc?"

He grins because he has the perfect answer to that. He shows him his bag of packed lunch.

Tin immediately cheered like a kid and that made him laugh.

He really feels like he is raising two babies.

Five months ago...

"W-Where is he? T-Tin, w-where is my b-baby? Tin..."

Beam is shaking from tiredness and his splitting headache. All his painkillers are wearing off now and sooner or later, he knows he would not even be able to speak from the pain. He wants to cry but his need to see his baby is all he can think about.

Tin immediately went to him and held his hand. He knows that Tin is making sure that he would not attempt to move. "Hey, hey, please calm down first or I will cry with you."

He did not know that would make him laugh in this situation but it did. With a simple joke, he already calmed down well. It finally sunk into him that everything is alright, that he has nothing to worry about. He is safe and, of course, his baby.

His baby...

His baby is a premature baby and this month is only his seventh month with him. No mother deserves a premature birth, but just like every mother who has experienced it—they did not have a choice. He is a doctor; he should know this of all the people. Preeclampsia. His uncontrollable blood pressure forced his premature birth.

The last thing he remembers is that it was being explained that his baby is going to be transferred in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Right after that, he does not remember much because he is sure that he already passed out.

"He's okay. You're both okay..."

"Doc Beam, Doc Tin!" The nurse happily welcomes them. "Perfect timing! Baby boy is awake and is laughing!"

Beam knows that he does not have anything to worry about, but he is still reluctant to come in. This is his own idea and he cannot even... Tin must have sensed his sudden fear, so the Alpha immediately holds his arm.

"You're not planning to back out now, right?"

He breathes in and out for a moment. "N-No... It's just that..."

The nurse smiles and gestures at the seats they prepared for them. "No need to worry, Doc Beam. Rest assured that we are doing our best for our baby boy to finally recognize your scent. We also have a surprise, so please come and see."

Knowing your sex—whether you are an Alpha, a Beta, or an Omega—can only be done at the twelfth year of the children. This will provide the most accurate result and this is the test nationally mandatory to be taken for all the precautionary measures especially for those who will result as Omegas. Immediate sex education with special lessons on suppressants and collar protections are administered, again, especially to the Omegas. But in some exceptional cases, doctors are able to confirm the sex of the baby immediately after birth; and that is what happened to him and to his baby boy.

When the newborn baby will not accept his Omega mother, it is only because the baby is a pure Alpha—the result cannot be mistaken because there is no room for any possibilities of being a Beta or an Omega. The rejection happens not as permanent rejection, but it is for the Alpha babies to get used to the pheromones their Omega mother naturally has. That is the reason why his baby needed to stay in the hospital all these months.

His baby boy Yves is an Alpha. Just like his...

"We have the best news for you, Doc Beam. Baby boy is finally getting used to your scent and more. We think we will finally experience the hard time of changing his sheets."

He gasps and immediately tears up upon seeing his baby grab hold of the sheet—the sheet that has his pheromones—as he laughs. His baby is laughing as he basks himself with his scent!

He did not realize he almost collapsed until Tin caught him. The Alpha is also laughing in delight.

"Look, baby Yves, your mom almost collapsed! Good job!"

His baby giggles and that just melted his heart more. He is happy. He is very happy!
