"I know he did not just hang up on me," I said to myself.

"Cardi, who is that car for?" Nettie asked, walking to the front door with Fran.

"Apparently for me," I answered as I closed the door behind me and walked towards the car.

"Who brought you a car? Did Maddox buy it? Wow, he's moving faster than Mr. Sheffield ever did with me." Fran said.

"No, ma. Zhan got me this car," I said.

"Zhan?" Nettie asked

"Who the fuck brought you that car?!" Maddox yelled as soon as he walked into my bedroom, slamming the door against the wall.

Jean quickly peeked his head into the room, looking back and forth between Maddox and me.

I put my phone down on the bed and looked up at Maddox.

"Ahn's dad brought it for me to be able to do my job," I answered.

Maddox glared at me.

"Cardi, return it now!" Maddox exclaimed.

"I can't. It's under my name." I said.

"Sell it." He said.

"Are you going to buy me a car if I sell it?" I asked.

Maddox rolled his eyes.

"Cardi that car better be gone by the time I come home tonight." He said.

"Whatever," I said.

"I'm serious." He said.

"Mhm, I heard you," I said.

"Jean, make sure that car is gone if she doesn't get rid of it." He said.

"Yes, sir," Jean said.

I sucked my teeth.

"El tonto," I said.

"What did you say?" He asked.

"I said you're a dummy," I answered.

"Am I a dummy? You're the one being used to get to me." He said.

"And it's not like I know anything about your stupid ass," I said as I rose to my feet.

"You're trying my patience with you." He said.

"What you finna do?" I asked.

"It's too hot in here for me," Jean said to himself, smirking then leaving.

We leaned towards each other and found ourselves engrossed in an intensifying kiss with our arms wrapped passionately around each other.

Maddox put his other hand on my shoulder and pushed me back away from him. We were both gasping for breath and he said, "No!"

"Why did you kiss me?" I asked.

"You kissed me." He answered.

"No, you kissed me," I said.

"It's just a kiss. Just get rid of the damn car before I do." He said, leaving my bedroom.

"Cardi, what are you doing here?" Zhan asked as he let me into the house.

"I came to bring you the car back. Maddox doesn't want it at his house. You know with you being his rival and all." I answered, grabbing his hand and putting the keys in it.

Zhan chuckled.

"Of course, he's upset. I didn't know Maddox could be so immature." Zhan said.

"What's the deal with you two?" I asked.

"He took something from me and I took it back." He answered.

"What did he take from you?" I asked.

"Ahn's mother." He answered.

"Y'all beefing over pussy. Whew chile, the ghetto." I said.

"It may be petty to you but because of him, Ahn is growing up without a mother." He said.

"Did you know that I worked for Maddox? Is that why you approached me? To use me." I said.

Zhan sighed.

"I'm not going to lie to you but no I did not. I think you're very beautiful but in the back of my mind I did think about using you to get back at Maddox but it's not worth it. Ahn truly likes you and I don't want to ruin that for him." He said.

"You're such a gilipollas," I said, walking to the front door.

Zhan grabbed my arm.

"Is this going to stop you from watching Ahn?" He asked.

"I won't come over here anymore out of respect for Maddox but you can bring Ahn to my mother's house and I'll watch him for you," I answered.

Zhan smiled.

"Thank you." He said.

"Yeah, whatever," I said.

"Cardi-"

"What?" I asked, interrupting him.

Instead, of speaking, he kissed my lips.

I pushed him away. I slapped him.

"Don't ever do that again!" I yelled.
