Chapter Seven

"So, how many days do you want to watch him so you don't have a scheduling conflict with Maddox?" Zhan asked.

"Well, I have two days off," I answered.

"He only gives you two days off?" Zhan asked.

"I mean if I'm not needed, I can have more days off but I have no problem watching little guys for you whenever you need me to. I'm sure I can work something out with Maddox too," I replied.

Zhan nodded.

"That's fine with me," He said.

"So, where is he?" I asked, looking around for Ahn. "I don't hear him running around," I said.

Zhan smiled.

"He's out with his grandmother, my mother. He'll be back later today," He said.

I nodded. I looked at the time on my phone and stood up.

"Look I have to go and pick my best friend. So, just text me when you need me to look after Ahn and I'll show up, okay," I said.

"Do you need a ride?" He asked.

I shook my head no.

"No, I'll just take a cab," I answered.

"Well, let me at least give you cab fare," He said, as he opened his wallet pulled out two hundred dollars, and handed it to me.

I sucked my teeth and looked at him.

"Two hundred dollars?" I asked.

"Just take, Cardi, consider it your sign-on bonus," He answered.

I shook my head and grabbed my purse.

"Shit, this will cover lunch then," I said, heading to the front door.

Zhan smirked as he stared at Cardi's ass.

"See you later, Cardi," He said.

"Mhm, bye," I said, opening the door and walking out of the house.

———

I let out a little groan and patted my full stomach, weaving a little as Janay and I walked out of the restaurant.

"Girl, that was good!" Janay said as she chuckled alongside her, a little unsteady on her feet as well.

"That's more than good," I said.

I stumbled a little, giggling, and Janay shushed her with a grin.

"Girl, act normal," Janay whispered loudly.

"That wine was delicious," I said.

"You nearly drank the whole bottle," She said.

"You too," I said.

"Girl, you cannot even walk," She said.

I rolled my eyes.

"Yes, I can. Watch," I said, tossing my hair and almost toppling over when the movement made my head spin.

"Oh shit, Cardi, watch out," She said as she tried to grab me but ended up, causing me to bump into someone.

I looked up at the person to apologize and it was Maddox.

"Fuck," I said, trying to move away from him.

Maddox's warm hands caught me around the waist before I could fall, sending a wave of goosebumps across my skin.

"Why do I always catch you doing something stupid?" Maddox asked.

"Maybe, you should stop following me with your nosey ass," I answered.

Janay chuckled.

"She's drunk," She said.

Maddox shook his head.

"I can see that," He said.

"No, you can't," I said as I placed my hands over his eyes. "Close your eyes," I added.

Maddox chuckled and then released me a little reluctantly when he realized our proximity.

"Cardi, be lucky this is your day off," He said, walking away.

"Girl, did you hear his tone?" Janay asked.

"Yes, and I think I need to go buy some new panties," I answered.

Janay chuckled.

"I knew it, you want to freak him," She said.

"Do you see him?" I asked.

"It's not fair. You always find the fine ones," She said.

I rolled my eyes.

"Let's follow him," I said.

"Let's go before we lose him," She said.

———

"What the fuck is he doing here?" I asked as we watched Maddox enter the hotel.

"Maybe, he meeting up with someone," Janay answered.

"You think it's a girl?" I asked.

"Let's go and find out," Janay said as she pulled me towards the direction of the hotel.

Once we made it to the hotel and walked in. We noticed Axel and Maddox in the lobby.

"Oh shit," Janay said as we tried to find somewhere to hide.

"I can't believe you talked me into this shit," I said.

"It was your idea to follow him," She said.

"You're supposed to talk me out of shits like this," I said.

"I'm drunk," She said.

Axel tapped Maddox on the arm and pointed in our direction. I bit my lip and quickly walked towards the front desk, leaving Janay by herself as she waved at them.

Maddox shook his head and followed me to the front desk.

I smiled at the receptionist as Maddox reached me.

"What are you two doing here?" He asked.

"We're checking in. You know it's girl's weekend," I answered.

"Oh? So you weren't following me?" He asked.

I rolled my eyes.

"Boy, bye," I answered.

Maddox moved closer to me and whispered in my ear.

"Keep your distance, Cardi, you aren't ready for what I could do to you," He said, licking his lips.

I looked him in the eyes.

"And you aren't ready for me, Maddox, so back the fuck up," I said, smirking.

Maddox smirked.

"Be nice, Cardi, after all, I am your boss," He said.

"Ma'am, can you please give me a room key?" I asked.

The receptionist nodded.

"Cardi, did you get the room?" Janay asked, walking to us with Axel behind her.

I nodded.

"Yeah, let's go," I answered as the receptionist handed me a key.

"See you later, Hammer," Janay said, winking at Axel.

I pretended to throw up.

"Shut up, you know he's fine," She said.

"Both of them are ugly," I said, looking at Maddox.

"That's not what you said earlier," She said.

"Oh, what did she say earlier?" Axel asked.

"She said -," Janay began, a little startled when I quickly pressed my hand to her mouth.

"I said nothing," I answered.
