SILENT HEARTBEAT

chapter one -CoNtROl YoUr EmOtIoNs

A born is not be endorsed, she's a muggle, she knows nothing about the world of magic, she is an ordinary Korean girl.

The rain had been falling since morning.

By the time the school bell rang, the courtyard was covered in puddles. Students rushed through the corridors, shaking rain from their umbrellas and complaining about the weather.

Among them walked Kim Seokjin.

Quiet.

Serious.

Always alone.

He wasn't the kind of person who smiled at everyone.

In fact, most students couldn't remember the last time they had seen him smile.

Seokjin didn't care about making friends.

He didn't care about being popular.

And he certainly didn't care about school drama.

He preferred keeping his head down and getting through the day without attracting attention.

There was a reason for that.

Seokjin had a secret.

A secret nobody at school knew.

He was a wizard.

But not even that was the strangest thing about him.

His magic didn't behave normally.

His uncle had warned him about it since childhood.

"Control your emotions."

Those four words had followed Seokjin everywhere.

Because when he became angry, strange things happened.

Lights flickered.

Objects moved.

His eyes changed color.

And sometimes...

he could hear things that weren't his.

Memories.

Fear.

Thoughts.

Things people desperately wanted to forget.

That was why Seokjin kept his emotions buried.

He didn't smile much.

He didn't get excited.

And he tried very hard not to get angry.

"Give it back!"

Seokjin stopped walking.

He recognized the voice.

Not because he knew the girl well.

Actually, he knew her because she was constantly getting into trouble.

She was standing near the lockers while three students surrounded her.

One of them was holding her notebook.

"Why are you always so annoying?"

"I'm not annoying."

"You are."

"Give me my notebook."

The boy lifted it higher.

She jumped to grab it.

He laughed and moved it away.

Seokjin sighed.

Of all the people in the school...
