It was a dark and cold night, the rain pouring down harder than it was before. I just got done closing a case against for run away driver. The man was guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison without parole.
The victim is still alive, but won't walk anymore. I can't help but feel bad for the family. *Sighs* just another night of working alone, since my last partner didn't want to work with me.

I looked away for a second to pull out my flashlight, and when I shined the light where the mysterious figure was.... The kid was gone. My face showed a slight curious look, but maybe it was just my imagination. It was pretty late after all. I took a deep breath and walked inside.
