“You alright.” Aug put corn starch over the vomit outside the bathroom door.

“Yeah, I’m okay.” I said finishing brushing up my teeth. I rinsed out my mouth.

“You think it’s …” Aug said referring to me being pregnant.

“No, it’s probably something I ate that’s not agreeing with my stomach.” I dried off my face and went into the bedroom.

“Well lay down, I’ll clean it up.”

“Thank you.” I laid down and tried to go back to sleep.

Aug cleaned up the mess, then washed his hands and arms.

He got back in bed.

“You sure it’s not that?”

“Yes August. I’m not pregnant.”

“How do you know though?”

“Because I know. Now leave me alone damn. You said once I got your food you’d leave me alone.”

I really didn’t feel like hearing any pregnancy talk. My heart literally couldn’t take it if I was pregnant again, and lost this one. I was just going to ignore it. I didn’t even want to know.

The door opened and lil Auggie walked in.

“Mommy.”

“What Auggie?”

He ran up to the bed and climbed up next to me.

“I sorry. You forgive me?”

“Yeah Auggie.”

He gave me a kiss.

“I still your favorite man?”

“Yeah baby.” I smiled at how cute he was.

“Can I go back downstairs with Sata and O?”

“Yeah.”

“Love you mommy.”

“Love you too sweetie.” He got down.

“So you don’t love your daddy?” Big Aug said with his mouth full of food.

“Love you too Pop-Pop.” Auggie laughed and ran out.

There was silence for a moment.

“Amb baby you know I’m here. Whether you are or whether you not. I’m here and I’mma be here.”

I shook my head I understood, not turning to face him.

He leaned his head over and kissed my forehead.

“You ain’t got  to be afraid we in this together.”

I turned to face him.

“How did you know that’s what it was?”

“Cause just like you know me. I know you. You may think I don’t. But I do.”

“What if I am and I can’t carry it?” I felt my eyes start to water.

“We not about to do that.” He wiped my eyes. “What’s meant for us we’ll get. Aight.”

“Yeah. I love you.”

“I love you.”

“Love you more.” He pecked my lips. “But wait. You not living up to your end of the bargain.”

“What?”

“Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, you didn’t kiss my heart. You said you was going to kiss it everyday until it was healed. It’s still broken.” He took off his shirt and patted over his heart.

“Goodbye August.” I laughed and turned over.

“That means one of them marbles coming out the trust jar.”

“Really?”

“Yup.” He took a marble out of the trust jar.

I reached over and kissed his heart.

“You ain’t do it enough times.”

“You are so petty.” I laughed.

“I guess you don’t want it in there.”

“Oh my God, you are such a baby.” I got on his lap and kissed his heart several times. Then took my kisses to his stomach. Then was about to pull down his pants when the door opened.

“Mommy.” Sata said.

August pushed me off the bed. I plopped loudly on the floor.

“August!”

“My bad.” He laughed and helped me up.

“Yes Sata.” I got up fixing my hair.

“Umm can we go over Auntie Cha’s house after church tomorrow.”

“Yeah baby.”

“Ok. Thank you.” She walked out.

Me and Aug looked at each other and laughed. It felt so good that we were back in a good place. I prayed this never changed.
