***Onika aka. Dr. Maraj in the m/m ****

AMBER P.O.V. –

“Awww Amby I hate seeing you like this.” Onika ran her hand through my hair.

I had been crying in her lap all night.  After she got out of jail a year ago with nothing, she contacted me. I moved her to Atlanta, helped her start over by getting her Real Estate license and she’s been on the move doing Real Estate in Atlanta ever since.

She’s making her own money now, so she doesn’t need my help anymore. But we still keep in contact from time to time.

“I know how he is Nic. He’s never going to take me back. And that’s…that’s the part that hurts so much.” I wiped my nose with the Kleenex.

“Never say never babe. It’s never a finality. Especially if he loves you very much.”

“Nic…” I sat up to try to explain to her. “He’s the type of person that puts loyalty at the top of his list of everything. After he found out about the situation with his brother he was completely done with me.”

“But you guys got back together. You got married. Had children.”

“I know but he’s not as forgiving as I am. You even know that. ”

“But you’re his wife Amby. You and him have been through so much, a lot of shit I caused, and I apologize about that every day. But you guys got through it. And you’ll get through this. I’m not saying its gonna be easy. Cause men are totally different from women. Thank God I’m a lesbian.” She looked at the sky, then at me and smiled.

“But if you nag them enough, they’ll give in.”

“Aug’s not like that Nic. He’s not. I know him.”

“Have you ever been in this situation before?”

“What do you mean?”

“Where you were the one at fault in a big fallout?”

I thought about it. And Aug and I had minor arguments before, but he was the one usually at fault. I had never been on the side of a big argument like this.

“No, not this big.”

“Well you don’t know how he’ll act.”

I thought about it. That was true.

“I think the first thing you should do is try to go over there early in the morning before the kids wake up and talk to him.”

“I don’t know if he’ll listen though Nic.”

“You never know unless you try. You can take my car since yours is a wreck, but I have a showing at 9 am. So I need you to bring it back then.”

“He might get even more suspicious if he sees me with another car. I’ll just take the bus.”

“Amb you live in a gated community. Buses don’t run over there. How about early before you live we go get you a rental? That work?”

“Yeah.”

“But for now babe, you go in that room and get some shut-eye. Your face is starting to look like a blow fish from all the puffiness.” She laughed.

I gave a slight laugh.

“Thanks Nic, I appreciate it.” I gave her a hug and went off to sleep and tried to prepare for tomorrow.

---------------

I pulled up to the house and my stomach was in complete knots. Everything went through my mind. How he was going to react? What was he going to say? Did he still love me anymore? I just wanted to apologize and get it over with.

I walked up the stairs and stuck my key in the door, but it didn’t work. I looked at my key ring, thinking I had the wrong key, but no it was the right one.  I stuck it in and tried to jiggle it but it wouldn’t fit.

He changed the locks already?

I debated whether or not to ring the doorbell. I decided I had nothing to lose and rang it.

I waited a minute, then rang it again. The door slowly opened and Aug appeared behind it with the kids uniforms in his hands. He looked at me.

“Anything you got left a U-Haul will be here today to put in storage. Cause you not coming in my house. I’ll let you know when its done.” He tried to close the door.

I caught it.

“August would just listen to me?”

“I don’t want to hear shit you got to say. I gotta get my kids ready for school.”

“Are they not my kids too?”

“Were you thinking about your kids when you was out here fucking around on they daddy?”

“I didn’t have sex with him August. I kissed him. That was it. And I’m sorry.”

He looked down, as he was being a barrier between me and the door.

“When you pick them up bring em’ to my office.” He was about to close the door again. I caught it.

“August that’s the God’s honest truth. I really didn’t sleep with him.”

“Like it was the truth about you never betraying my heart? After I poured my fucking soul out to you.” He looked at me waiting for a response.

I had none.

“Yeah, okay.” He sucked his teeth and rolled his eyes.

“Baby please, I want to work it out.” I tried to touch him.

He slapped my hands away.

“Well I don’t. Like I said I want a divorce and that’s just what it is. My lawyers drawing up the papers, I’ll get em’ to you asap.”

“You’re going to throw everything we have away over a kiss August?”

“Somebody told me history means nothing? Ain’t that what you said?”

I sighed. “August. I always forgive you. Always.”

“That’s the difference between you and me. I don’t think I’m everybody savior. And I’m not trying to save hoes that don’t want to be saved.” He got within kissing distance of my face.

“You know maybe it was a good thing you lost the baby. The shit probably wasn’t mine to begin with.”

I felt so hurt he would make such an accusation.

“Daddy.” I heard A3 coming down the steps.

“You can’t keep my kids from me August.” I managed to say through the tears.

“Bring em’ to my office like I said.” He closed the door before A3 could see me and I heard it lock.
