but now, she felt like she's just being immature and immaturity is one of the things hyein despises.

"i just need to think of a way too apologize and thank him now" hyein murmured as her eyes were staring blankly at the ceiling. it might seem that hyein looks like she's not doing anything or maybe she just looks like she's daydreaming

but in reality, many ideas and thoughts were running through her mind

and hyein felt like a lightbulb just appeared on top of her head when she came across the perfect idea

"okay, this might not be the perfect idea but i'm sure he'll appreciate my efforts right?"

hyei wiped the sweat that was running across her temple as she sighed tiredly before taking a good look at what she just made.

and when her eyes finally focused on what she made, her mind just started to scream 'no' repeatedly. but it seems that hyein had a little piece of positivity left in her mind,

"okay, it might not look that appetizing but i'm sure it tastes good- or decent enough.." hyein's hand held the spoon hesitatingly as she nervously eyed the fried rice before her.

"eh- yolo" hyein momentarily shrugged before inching closer to the spoon and as she was about to eat the scooped rice, a voice stopped her

"did you buy food already? i was about to cook" hyein's eyed widened as the spoon in her grip loosened, she turned her head to the side to be faced with chenle and judging with the towel around his neck, seems that he just got out of the shower

hyein immediately placed the spoon on the plate and pushed the plate away before awkwardly leaning towards the counter to cover it. chenle eyed the stiff girl in front of him before taking steps forward which made hyein grew nervous

"why did you hide it?"

"hide what?"

chenle snorted at her reply before crossing his arms while staring amusingly at hyein who was busy looking away from him, she was afraid that if she met eyes with him - she'll do or say something stupid

"i can smell the food- did you buy it?"

chenle leaned closer so she would face him but hyein kept looking away to avoid his eyes which annoyed chenle, he sighed at the unresponsive girl as he looks aside to find used a used pan in the sink and that was when chenle realized something

"so what's the occasion?"

"huh?"

chenle felt the corner of his lips curling upwards when hyein finally turned to face him, he pointed at the plate behind her as he said, "why'd you cook? did something happen or what?"

hyein's eyes flickered around as she tried to think of a response, she was about to just deny what he said until she thought that this might be her chance

'it's now or never'

hyein inhaled lightly before standing straight and pulled the plate to the center between them with chenle's eyes following her actions

"it's an.."

"what? i can't hear you"

hyein bit her bottom lip before looking elsewhere as she spoke louder, "it's an.. apology"

hyein felt the blood rushing up to her face as she finally said those words but the nerve going inside her never left in fact, it grew larger as she waited for chenle to reply

but all that hyein could hear were chuckles which turned to laughter from chenle, she snapped her head towards his direction to find chenle busy laughing. hyein sighed as she tried to hold back the urge to strangle the male in front of her

"no need to laugh, i'm already embarrassed enough"

"i'm laughing because you were too cute"

hyein gave no reply and only looked elsewhere as her cheeks turned rosier than before, chenle chuckled again before pushing the plate towards him

hyein's eyes followed his hand that was scooping the rice and when chenle was raising the spoon to his mouth, hyein felt a sudden wave of uneasiness running through her

"wait!"

"what?"

"i haven't tasted it yet.. it might taste ba-"

"i'll be the judge of it"

"i'm not su- eh WAIT!"

hyein immediately closed her eyes when the fried rice went inside chenle's mouth, she couldn't bear to see chenle's expression. she could only hear the silent sound of chenle chewing the food

"hyein"

"it's bad isn't it?"

"hyein"

"just say it chenle!"

but all hyein could hear was chenle's laughter and that made hyein open her eyes to see his face. chenle stopped laughing when he noticed hyein finally looking at him and only smiled at the girl which made her confused

hyein's brows were furrowed as she stared at his face and to her, the smile on his face looked more like a teasing grin

chenle pointed at the food as he said,

"you mistook ketchup for chili sauce"

hyein is me when cooking but the fact is
i've never cooked my whole life 🤡
