after the loss against karasuno, he felt as if he was bringing the team down, he'd been in the gym since 5am.
it broke your heart to see him in that state of mind.
hesitantly, you opened the gym door to see matsukawa practicing serves. mind you, it was 8pm, and here he was at the school gym practicing while everyone else went home.
"issei?" you called out, with no answer you tried again. "uh..mattsun?"
you had a view of his back and you saw him stop and stand there, before he slowly turned around
"yes?" he answered with tears going down his face
you ran towards him and hugged him tight
"issei, what's wrong?" "all i wanted was to win, [f/n]. i feel like i'm horrible, like i don't deserve to be on the team." he said as he hugged you
you two stayed like that for a while after you reassured him he was amazing.
"hey, issei?" you said as you pulled back to look at him "yeah?" "wanna go get some food?" you said as you saw his eyes light up
without saying anything he grabbed his bag and ran out the door
"ISSEI" you said as you ran behind him while laughing
