All at once, you find yourself.
Not that you'd gone missing, mind you.
So blatant, you are
So present... They couldn't ignore you
If they tried. You hang on their every word,
Swinging like a champ.
They use dusty parlour tricks,
Back of their necks smouldering.
While you..., with gentle bonhomie,
Hatred and disdain shouldering,
Develop resilience, nerve,
Steely calm and deep.
Looking straight into their eyes,
Unafraid, you yawn for air.
It's you they won't recognize,
This woman, the assertive dare.
Off guard, they're caught.
You, simply there...
