"Cas?"

The words were fuzzy, Cas felt himself hooked up to something, and a hand on his own.
His eyes reopened, and heard the words more clearly;
"Cas?"

Castiel gave a light moan, looking about the hospital room, and noticing he was in a bed, to a monitor.
"Hm..? Ugh, D-Dean?"

"Yeah, stupid."

Cas's expression went a little more strict, then all innocent and wakey.
"S-Stupid?"

"Yeah, stupid!"
Dean yelled, and took his hand of Castiel's, his fingers flickered, longing for the small touch.

"Dean, that's enough."
Sam said, roughly as he walked in the room.
"You know he was vulnerable."

"I don't care!"
Dean turned back to Cas,
"What were you thinking, man? You should have known it was fake! You would have died, if I... You only had minutes when we finally got you unhooked."
Dean looked away hurt, Cas heavily sighed.

"I didn't know what was happening, Dean. I apologize."

"But that didn't save your life! What did you see there anyways?"

Sam and Cas tensed up, looking away, both silently agreeing, 'no.'

"Nothing important, I just ended up... Wandering off..."

"Cas-"

"Really, uh, Dean."
Sam choked in.
"It was nothing."

Dean sighed and shook his head, and ran a hand through Castiel's hair, Cas seemed to purr almost by it, but Dean didn't take much notice. He just leaned close to Castiel's soft expression, and firmly said;
"I could have lost you. I don't need you gone to."
Dean whispered, and then walked out of the room, almost for effect.

Sam looked back down to Cas, who had a single tear roll down his face.
Sam walked over and out a hand on his shoulder, trying to give comfort.
"Cas, it's okay. We don't need to tell him."

"Alright. Thank you, Sam."
Cas tried to shrug off.

"Cas, I know he loves you."

"After all I did, why hasn't he at least said it?"
Cas turned to Sam, confusion and sadness in his eyes.

"Cas. Have you ever said you loved him?"

"I thought actions were enough."

"So was his."
Sam lightly smiled. Cas sighed and leaned his head into Sam's hold his shoulder, and then sat up again.
"I'm sorry I was stupid."

Sam sighed and sat on the bed beside Cas's torso.
"Don't listen to that."

"But in the dream-"

"Cas."
Sam have him the most puppy and moose he could fit in a stare.
"If I had Jess, or Madison in my dream, I would do the same thing."

Cas looked down again. Sighing, he lightly nodded as Dean walked back in the room. Sam stood up, as looked at Dean. Who looked back as they stared at each other for a few seconds before Dean took a husky breath and Sam cut in,
"Well?"

"Right."
Dean stated,
"The doc says Cas should be alright, that they just needs to check up on him, and he should be good to go. Just needs a few beers and some rest in my opinion."

"Cool. Well... I'll get coffee, and leave you two alone!"
Sam clapped his hands together, and nervously walked out of the room.

"So... How are you feeling?"
Dean asked and sat where Sam was.

"Alive."
Cas responded blankly.

"Cas-"

"I'm tired, Dean, please. I'm human now, it's an emotion."
Cas sighed and flipped around in the bed, lightly shaking from his tears building up. He didn't even know what he wanted anymore. Dean just sat there and just quietly responded,
"Sure."

~~~
As the week went on, Cas was back to normal. And Dean was himself to.
Fighting things, drinking drinks.
The life. And Cas wasn't the same. Everyone saw it, but they figured (or at least Dean) it was just a bit of shock. Cas is new to all the human stuff.
But every time Dean walked out of the motel room, or pushed away the boys for a night alone, or went off with another girl,
it broke Sam's heart.
Because all he could is sit there, keep his mouth shut...
and watch Castiel break apart all over again.
And the most painful, and human of all emotions-
Is love.
