The windows speak of freedom,
They beckon with promises of hope.
Beyond those bars is the world,
I need to see, fight with and cope.

Trapped in this gilded cage,
Protected within these walls four,
Suffocated in my own presence,
I've forgotten how it feels like to soar.

My eyes have gotten adjusted,
To seeing bland days and nights,
This window has provided escape,
From all the monotonous sights.

The world outside is unsafe,
And yet I don't want to stay wrapped
Inside this bubble of safety as always,
I feel not safe and secure but trapped.
