They come in all types
Short or long mails they send
Some generic and some personal
But the message in each
Is the same in the endAfter careful consideration,
We've decided this submission isn't right...
Unfortunately, it is not quite
What we are looking for at this time
So we must pass...Wow what a sightI keep on reading with a smile
It's just another rejection letter
Just another time when they proved
I'm a no one in the arena
And I need to be so much betterI'm going to pass on it.
It didn't quite work for me, I'm afraid...
I hope you found writing it worthwhile
It might find a home elsewhere one day...
That's all they saidNow I don't even remember how many
I read all and close all
They've come and they've gone
They've disappointed me but
Was I really even waiting for their call?At first I used to feel a bit low
And now these letters are
The addictions that make me high
And maybe I'm so used to rejections cause
In this world acceptance is really rareI enjoyed reading your work and
Have given it careful consideration,
But on this occasion I don't feel
It's quite the right fit
For our publication...Rejections everywhere
They accepted me never
But I'll just keep on writing still
Because I know life can bend me
But not break me everLife cannot break me ever, not anymore
A/N Have you ever tried traditional publishing and got rejected like me? How many times?
