She chooses the latter.

A loud snapchat notification snapped Chaeyoung out of her trance. She looked as if she had just seen a ghost.

How would your little girlfriend react if I told her about your actual "girlfriend"?

7:14 pm

A lump formed in Chaeyoung's throat, and she swallowed sharply. However, she chooses to ignore his text, as always.

Chaeyoung is scared. Actually, petrified would be more fitting.

She already chose to give up on whatever she feels for Lisa in hopes of maintaining her "faithfulness" to Jisoo. But... if she finds out, Chaeyoung would be left with no one. Alone.

She shivers at that thought.

Jimin deserves to rot in hell for what he's doing.

Chaeyoung fails to understand how one can feel pleasure from her sufferings.

Without her even realizing, a singular tear rolls out of her eyes, soon followed by many more.

It was then that Chaeyoung felt slender arms wrap around her waist, engulfing her in a tight embrace. Lisa's intoxicating scent made her heart soar, and the pain slowly dissipated.

She buried her face into the crook of Lisa's neck before mumbling a soft "hey".

Chaeyoung could hear the hammering of the younger girl's chest, and she wonders how great of an effect she had on Lisa.

The Thai girl releases a shaky breath. "Are you ok?"

Hearing no response from Chaeyoung, Lisa takes it as a no.

"Well, I didn't have the best day either..." Lisa mumbled with a tired smile.

----------

Jennie made her presence known with a loud cough, and Lisa jumps in her spot.

"Jumpy, are we?" Jennie asked coldly.

The taller gulped nervously, looking down to her fingers with guilt.

"I thought about what you said."

With that, Lisa meets Jennie's icy gaze. Gathering all her courage, she whispers a soft "and?"

Jennie scoffs before uncrossing her arm. "And you should know that you and her will NEVER happen. She's with my sister. She loves her. She's your BESTFRIEND. She'll never see you as anything more."

In a way, Jennie was almost projecting. (She knows. She understands what Lisa's going through. More than anyone. This is what she went through with almost every girl she's ever liked.)

Her words stung like venom, and Lisa was poisoned beyond believe.

Tears trickled down the Thai girl's face. Jennie bit her bottom lip, guilt suddenly washing over. Perhaps she had been a bit too forward. Her expression softened as she took a seat opposite of Lisa.

"Look, I just don't think she's good enough for you."

Lisa shook her head with a bitter smile. "She's perfect to me. It's almost like... like... It... sounds stupid but, it's like she could... hurt me as badly as she wanted to... and I'd still be there for her. Like a pathetic puppy that would wag its tail at any sort of attention from her."

Jennie smiled fondly. "It's not stupid." If that were stupid, then Jennie might as well label herself an idiot. Because here she was, comforting the girl she loves as the latter cried over another.

"It's so unfair..." Lisa continues, "she couldn't care less about my feelings towards her. I cook her food, to have it left untouched. I confess my feelings, to have them avoided like the coronavirus. I give her my heart, to have it tossed away as if it were worthless."

"It is unfair isn't it." Jennie states, expression darkening. "She has everything I want, and she doesn't realize how fucking lucky she is."

There they sat, so close, but worlds apart at the same time.

Caught in the space between conflicted feeling and everlasting heartbreak.

Limbo.
