*13 Years Later*

Chris’s Pov.
I was up early in the morning, cooking breakfast. I had to wake up early, otherwise it would never be ready before the boys got up. Oh where are Les and James with the eggs.

“Morning” Spot smiled, walking into the kitchen.

“Morning” I smiled back, kissing him on the cheek before he sat down.

“We’re back!” Les exclaimed, followed in by my youngest son James who was proudly carrying a basket of eggs.

“I helped pappa!” James held the basket in his father's face.

“I can see that. Good job slugger” Spot smiled, scuffing up his hair.

“Thank you Les” I smiled, kissing Less on the top of the head.

Les had grown into such a handsome young man, James had just reached 7.

“Morning Chris” Sara greeted, walking into the kitchen to help cook.

“Morning Sara” I greeted.

“Mom we’re back!” Jack and Sara’s oldest, Timothy announced.

“We bought some flour,” Edward, my oldest son added.

“Thank you boys,” Sara smiled.

After a few more minutes of cooking everything was ready to be served.

“Morning mama!” Brooklyn exclaimed, barreling down the stairs.

She’s mine and Spot's youngest child. Brooklyn… I know right. Guess who’s idea that was.

“Whoa, slow down there little Zipper” Spot chuckled, picking her up and spinning her a bit.

I smiled at my old nickname.

“Brooklyn, James, go wake up the boys” I smiled.

“Okay mama” Brook smiled, running up the stairs.

“She looks like you,” Sara smiled.

“Well that wouldn’t be so bad” Spot smiled, wrapping his arms around my waist.

“Man are you getting fast!” Race exclaimed, carrying Brooklyn down the stairs.

“Yeah, looks like you got some competition Chris” Mush smiled, following after.

“Where’s your uncle?” Sara asked.

Both kids shrugged.

“Well it’s the 17th ain’t it?” Race remembered.

Oh right. It is.

“Hey has anyone seen-

“We’re home!” Jack exclaimed, bursting through the front door with Mute behind him.

“How was it?” Sara asked, walking up and kissing her husband.

“Those kids are big, they gotta start workin em harder” he chuckled, making us laugh.

“Speaking of we better get going if we wanna get to the circulation gate on time, Timothey” Ed reminded his cousin.

“Right. Come on James” Timothy nodded, munching down his toast.

“Be careful boys” Sara called out.

“Don’t go gettin into fights unless ya have to!” Spot added.

“Very nice” I chuckled.

“Bye ma” Ed walked over to me, kissing me on the cheek.

“Bye mama, bye pappa” James did the same.

“Bye mom, by pop” Timothy waved as well.

“See ya” Les nodded.

“Take care of em Les” Davey reminded, finally coming downstairs just in time.

“I will” Les nodded.

It was hard to believe he was 22 now, and Mute was 18. Jack and Davey were 30, Spot was 29, I was 28. We were all grown up. Les actually worked the distribution center now.

Mute gave me a quick hug before going off after the rest of the boys. We watched them run down the path from our small farm house near the very very edge of town.

“Daddy, Daddy” Brooklyn tugged on Spot’s shirt, reminding me of Mute when he was younger.

“Yes sweetheart?” Spot asked, lifting our daughter onto his lap.

“I’m gonna be a newsie one day. Just like mama” she smiled.

I smiled too. Newsies really did create the perfect families.

Edward:
Try bottle alley or the harbour.

Timothy:
Try central park it’s guaranteed.

Les:
Try any banker bum or barber.

James:
They almost all know’s how to read.
